Asus Eee Pad Transformer (16GB, Wi-Fi) price range: $288.90 - $408.62
- Reviewed by: Eric Franklin

The good: At $350, the Asus Eee Pad Transformer is one of the lowest priced full-sized, Android 4.0-upgradable tablets. Also, its high-quality screen and relatively cheap keyboard/dock make it an attractive option.
The bad: A few things keep the Transformer from completely blowing us away: the choppy recording and playback of the camcorder; its sharp edges; a build quality that's somewhat lacking; and problems that arise when docking.
The bottom line: The Asus Eee Pad Transformer is a low-price, quality Android tablet with useful options.

Great Internet access device. Not flawless-but what is?
by mbpetersen on July 12, 2011
Pros: Quick boot. Long battery life. Bright display. Quick & Easy WiFi access. Keyboard is AWESOME for larger texts, etc. (not to mention battery life). General I/O as well as SD expansion slots in both tablet and keyboard. Completely eliminates the n
Cons: Occasionally need to disable and re-enable WiFi to connect. Tablet to Keyboard connection must be fully seated to lock into place. Mail utility takes a bit of getting used to - but once you do it's clean & quick.
Summary: All things considered it's clearly the Best Tablet on the market including (iPad, Xoom, Galaxy, Viewsonic, Iconia, Folio, Optimus, Blackberry, HP & Dell).

Unbelievably easy.
by TechSavvybuff on July 6, 2011
Pros: i was blown away at how easy it was to hook up the mini HDMI cable. I hooked it up to my aaxa tech micro projector and i have never had a more "plug and play" experience. :)
Cons: none really.... well it is a small bummer that there are only 2-3 accessories but that was the case of for the ipad when it 1st came out...
Summary: i made a quick over view video of the transformer. :) :) :) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N_AFAPJGSLs

iPad killer and Killer tablet!
by TeviH on July 5, 2011
Pros: 1. PRICE - by far the cheapest and best in it's class
2. Screen - 10.1 widescreen
3. Usability - thinner and lighter and easier to hold than the XOOM; wide bezel leaves plenty of room for your thumb without accidentally hitting the screen
4. SD Card slotCons: 1. Android Honeycomb - still needs some work and ironing out, but this is definitely the preferred OS

Summary: It has all the features and then some of it's rivals and is built with an open system. The price is by far the best of anything else in it's class. I previously owned the Xoom for like 2 days and didn't like it. Too expensive and too heavy.
I've not purchased the keyboard/dock as I don't think I need it. However, this might offer an interesting option to those who don't have a small laptop. (I have two other laptops, so adding a keyboard would be silly.)
To be honest, I'm not sure what to do with it except casual web browsing and note taking. I wish Hulu worked on it (for free)! At this point, it's really just for R&D (I create web sites and apps) as the applications I normally use would never be suited for a tablet - even if they did run on Android.
The comments that the corners are too sharp are idiotic. I read about it and completely forgot about it when i received the tablet. This device is definitely the most comfortable to hold with the most useful screen aspect ratio.1 out of 1 users found this user opinion helpful.

Summary: I own the ipad, owned 2 Xoom's and now the Transformer (with dock). The Transformer is the best by a long shot. Best screen. Easy to hold. Very easy on the wallet, which is astounding considering it is the best featured tablet available.
None of the other Android tablets can match it. And ipad is a dud with its closed system that forces you to use silly iTunes.
Integrated dock is very good, particularly as it has its own battery and recharges the Transformer. Adds 2 full size USB and full size SD card (which is in addition to the mini hdmi and micro sd on the tablet itself), so tons of storage available and ability to connect peripherals - something the ipad doesn't offer no matter how much money you spend (and a huge black mark that makes it a total nonstarter for my needs).1 out of 1 users found this user opinion helpful.

Main reason for this comment is attempt to get more info from CNET:
1) Are USB and card slots fully functional? As in does the OS obstruct simple exchange of data to/from those sources allowing only certain functionality (ex. it would only pick images off them automatically,...)?
2) What is the type of touch-screen? Though deemed "obsolete" my usage for tablet calls for the precise stylus, it would be nice if manufacturers would think of user needs, not just "touch" fashion.
Positive answer to one of those - probably buying... Positive answer to both - rushing to get it.1 out of 2 users found this user opinion helpful.

I loved it but had to return it
by Peeperpuppy on April 30, 2012
Pros: I loved this tablet. I am NOT a super high tech person. I bought this to replace my Nook because I wanted the choice of buying books from multiple sources rather than being locked into 1. I use this tablet for everything PLUS reading books!
Cons: The ONLY reason I parted with this machine is the battery wouldn't hold charge. It was also just a smidge off in the WiFi dept (not a lot just a little).
NEEDs more case optionsSummary: I loved this machine so much I opted to give ASUS another try. I was going to exchange it for a new machine of the same type... but when they ...
Summary: I loved this machine so much I opted to give ASUS another try. I was going to exchange it for a new machine of the same type... but when they offered me the newest version ASUS released to fix some of the issues... I went for the new one. Will review when I've had it long enough. I loved this machine enough to give it another shot but it just made since to go with the new model. I'd looked at Acer & many other brands & while I found several I like... I just LOVED what ASUS brought to the table. I'm hoping the new model delivers on the charging/reception issues.
I would recommend the brand. -
It was great while it worked.

Pros: None now, I should have bought the extra warranty.
Cons: It won't wake up.
