Barnes & Noble Nook HD price range: $199.00

The good: The Barnes & Noble Nook HD has a light, comfortable design with a sharp screen and a well-implemented user profiles feature. Books, videos, and magazines look great and the microSD slot takes some of the sting out of the lack of internal storage.
The bad: It’s missing some typical tablet features and 8GB is low for $199. Fingerprints easily sully the screen and performance can be sluggish at times.
The bottom line: The Barnes & Noble Nook HD's sharp screen and comfortable body make it an ideal tablet choice, especially for reading books, magazines and watching movies. Google Play now only adds to the allure.

Love Love love it!
by Deweywant on November 19, 2012
Pros: Oh my gosh! After a year of researching new tablets, I can honestly say for me, Nook HD wins. I thought about the Ipad mini- Disappointing price, size and specs. It is still too big. Poor screen. Too expensive. The Nook HD is beautiful in it's design.
Cons: None for me...Oh lack of camera. But really ,do I need another one.
Not enough apps? Perhaps. But I find that a brand saying they have a gazillion apps is nothing. And the big ones are here. Its the quality of the apps that's important.Summary: Do yourself a favor, Check out the Nook HD It's awesome.

Pros: 1 million books to look from
nice displayCons: sluggish interface- touch is sometimes not responsive.
limited customized OS version of android

Summary: lets me first say I'm tech savvy person and have a lot of hands on experience with gadgets whether its smartphones or Open source stuff to computer OS, so let me say first the size is great the book content is great but the apps are very limited only over 25,000 apps, which is mainly games- kids and basic low ball apps. it has a sluggish performance overall. its almost like it shows its overpriced performance- web browser is suspect. i understand why its sluggish to begin with. its the term ereader- mainly has a performance to read books and with lite gaming and lite browsing. but if your going to compete with other touch os's this will fail tremendously due to lack of content and OS quality. they should just stick to the traditional ereader and just leave the touch screen OS behind. they could save alot of money by doing this and also many people buy a kindle anyways its more popular then the nook. i would strongly recommend a kobo reader or touch- it least it gets a full android app experience like the nexus 7 and 10 tablets. so overall i rate it less than the kindle with 2.5 stars. i do have to say i like the setup on this device better than the kindle fire in general. the processor is definitely a cheap dual core processor- this makes me very frustrated to say that this product is overpriced and will move on from nook and its apps in general. if you want books download the ios app or android app or just stick to the tradionalt ereader-paperwhite which B & N offers dont buy this touch screen ereader.
no dont plan to i sold mine last week. i didn't like it at all esecially since i own apple and google products

Great, useful, simple tablet. Excellent for reading.
by chucklul10 on November 28, 2012
Pros: Easy to hold, nice feel, sharp screen and crisp texts, great movie resolution, email, calendar, light weight.
Cons: I keep hitting "Switch keyboard" instead of space bar, keyboard cover up what I'm trying to type, sometimes browser seems slow, can't use Nook study, need more graduate-level academic books, and no back arrow for email, browser, and calendar apps.

Summary: I love the Nook HD. I like that it's a simple, basic, not too much extra included tablet. Netflix looks really good, and books look fantastic. I like reading on it more than traditional books and I'm actually reading more now instead of watching TV or browsing the internet. I also just like holding it, because it feels nice in my hand. It's really attractive and I liked the way it looked and felt the moment I saw it. Also, I like that I don't have a lot of contents, market places, and ads constantly trying to tempt me to waste more hard-earned money. It's a tablet that makes me feel like a frugal human being. The only things I wish it had more of are productivity apps so I can use it for presentations and work-related stuff like that, and to display my to-do list on the screen itself instead of having to open an app to see it.

Feels speedy, lightweight, and great screen!
by BenjaminSA on November 20, 2012
Pros: Screen is great to look at, apple has me spoiled and the Nook HD does not dissappoint. Sound is a huge improvement, the whole unit feels great. After reading so many reviews, I had my concerns, but I'm so glad I ignored them and bought it.
Cons: None, it's a great multimedia device and an excellent e-reader.

Summary: Okay i have an iphone 5, and an ipad with a retina display, but this is a great device itself. I don't use my ipad much except for school and internet. Right now, listening to pandora, it probably sounds as loud as my iPhone. I like having this device for it's magazines with article view, comics look great with the box zoom comic view feature. For the price, this is a great media device too, BN is still adding to their movie and TV offerings, but you can use netflix which looks great. It's also really responsive and the scrolling feels really smooth. A huge improvement from the Nook Tablet, this feels more polished. Shopping for books is so easy on the nook HD, and the suggested channels pick interesting titles. I can't wait to go to BN to read them for free to see if i will like it.
Overall this device feels very responsive, fast, and the scrolling menus are so fluidly smooth. I am really impressed how BN was able to improve the nook this much. It is completely re-done, but so easy to use and very user friendly.
