The good: The Barnes & Noble Nook Tablet is a full-featured tablet with a vibrant 7-inch touch screen, built-in Wi-Fi, 16GB of built-in storage, and a microSD expansion slot. In addition to a full slate of books and magazines, it offers more than a thousand apps through its integrated (and growing) Nook Store and is optimized for Netflix and Hulu Plus video playback. The built-in Web browser works well and offers Flash support.
The bad: No access to full Android Market; no Bluetooth, GPS, or camera; no video rental (or purchase) option; sideloaded content beyond 1GB needs to be housed on microSD.
The bottom line: With more storage and a growing app store, the Nook Tablet is a worthy--albeit slightly more expensive--competitor to the Kindle Fire.

It makes a great minimum price tablet.
by Gene Taylor on November 15, 2011
Pros: It's older brother, the Nook Color, has made a fantastic tablet for me with an Android card in it. The tablet will just give me more speed and smoother video playback.
Cons: I just wish the battery were longer, like the iPad.
Summary: When I want to take photos, I use a real camera. The Nook Color and Nook Tablet make great devices at a very reasonable price.

Summary: I look up lots of reviews on CNET Kindle Fire vs Nook Tablet. I have a Nook color and I pre-ordered the Fire based on the price. When Nook Tablet was launched, I thought about the Fire limitations and canceled that order.
The Nook Tablet is just amazing. I was really amazed at how responsive NetFlix is, the colors on the screen look great! I really like this device for what it has on it today and the potential of what it can be with software updates. It works great as an e-reader, so smooth, and comics look like they were made for it. Browsing is fast too, I really like the improvement in the processor and memory it really does show.6 out of 6 users found this user opinion helpful.

Great budget tab until B&N rolled out the 1.4.1 update.
by Mycopsycho on December 21, 2011
Pros: Quick, smooth action. Sensitive to touch. Brilliant screen. Relatively lightweight and comfortable to hold.
Cons: B&N app store is pathetic and shows little sign of improving much in the future. Apps overpriced. Locked bootloader. Essentially a closed eco-system.

Summary: Ability to sideload apps had made this tablet interesting. But with the 1.4.1 update that has ended. The folks at XDA are working on an easy, effective way to block updates but then what's the point? The work around now before updating to 1.4.1 is to keep your wi-fi turned off except for brief periods when adding apps. But many of my apps, such as news apps, news reader, etc., require syncing over wi-fi and this just defeats to purpose in having a tablet. The upshot is that I'm returning my Nook Tablet this week while I still can and I'm going to get a "real" tablet like a Samsung Galaxy Tab 7 Plus.

Summary: This is the tablet I was waiting for. At $250 it's a steal. So much more than just a reader it has the refinement and responsiveness of an iPad without Apple's locked-down approach to everything. This is no-doubt the best value in tablets right now.

PERFECT ADJUNCT TO MY NOTEBOOK PC & NOOK E READER

Summary: So far, I'm loving it. Since losing the desktop PC, I use notebook in the living room in my chair instead of the office, but this will replace that. I'll use the NOOK TABLET for staying "connected" and browsing, shopping the web.
Using my NOOK to write this update: it is perfectly suited to the AVERAGE non-ultra tech savy person Who never intended to ROOT it anyway. It does everything I expected and more in an easy to hold and use size. The screen and interface are fantastic. I use it almost exclusively over my notebook (which is still necessary for productivity applications like WORD and EXCEL) because it always with me. I mainly surf the web and I've never encountered a site I cant see or use and the battrry lasts for five days if I only surf. You can EASILY change the screen from tablet (automatically loading mobile versions of sites) OR to "desktop" where it loads the normal webpage. I love it. Additional con: keyboard is not intuitive. Worth every penny and very, very satsfied and happy.
When travelling, I won't need to take my notebook and e-reader, only the NOOK TABLET. I'll use my notebook for word processing, spreadshets and other "heavy" computer lifting back in my office. Probably still use my e-ink NOOK for reading when I'm home or at the beach (I prefer the e-ink). I dont care about the camere (I use my phone anyway) but because the NOOK TABLET doesn't have blue-tooth, I'll continue to use my phone for music as well. That really is my BIGGEST complaint.
Still, I'm loving this device. The size is perfect and it does everything I want it to and more, EXCEPT bluetooth.

Feels really light and the screen is amazing and quick.
by mlo6 on November 19, 2011
Pros: Great Screen, Quick, light in the hands, battery life is pretty good, memory card slot, pretty good browser, nice design, great B&N support
Cons: Not that many apps, but i don't need thousands. Only a gig usable space for non B&N content but you can use a micro SD.
Summary: Look at both the Nook and Fire side by side, the Nook will out shine Amazon's fire. The screen quality is far better , especially when playing Netflix. Having a ...
Summary: Look at both the Nook and Fire side by side, the Nook will out shine Amazon's fire. The screen quality is far better , especially when playing Netflix. Having a memory card slot is awesome. The browser is pretty quick and B&N has great support. If you pick one up get the protection plan from B&N. It'c only $50 and covers accidents and anything else for 2 years. Overall i'm very satisfied with this product and i think it's totally worth the extra money over the Fire.

Stunning value that gives you all the content you want!
by AKF28 on November 17, 2011
Pros: Running Amazon apps/music on it right now and watched an instant video from Amazon on the web browser. Display, battery life, and speed much improved over the Nook Color. Love that I can manage gift and credit cards on the tablet!
Cons: Complaints over the sideload content are null as I can use my microSD cards. Other than that, I love it. Don't need bluetooth or cameras. GPS would have been nice but not necessary.
Summary: Amazing device for such a low price. BN did it again!
