The good: RIM's BlackBerry PlayBook is a fast, powerful 7-inch tablet with HDMI output, advanced multitasking and security, and a browser that integrates Adobe Flash 10.2 for a desktop-style Web experience.
The bad: The 7-inch screen cramps the powerful browser; the wake button is difficult to push; and app selection trails the competition.
The bottom line: The BlackBerry PlayBook ably showcases RIM's powerful new mobile operating system, but its middling size diminishes many of its best features.

Too little, too late
by oneupcanuck on April 15, 2011
Pros: Features a high resolution screen, portable design and versatile QNX operating system. The playbook finally offers decent 3D gaming performance that the iPhone has had for a while now. Companies may like it's security features and integration with corpora
Cons: Lack of a true purpose. It seems as though RIM created the Playbook as a knee-jerk reaction to competition rather than in response to actual demand. There is a severe lack of application support making this expensive device of limit use to most people. Th

Sad testament to the future of RIM

Summary: Corporate email is the one feature that was expected out of RIM and they failed to deliver. That makes this just another tablet in the current herd. How completely arrogant of RIM to assume that corporate users still have a BlackBerry that they can tether to for email. Most have already switched to an iPhone or Android. The Playbook was the last hope of the corporate security department to keep a secure device in the inventory. As our execs told our RIM sales reps, "Too little, too late".

Buy it now and we fix it later!!
by cwalker1984 on April 21, 2011
Pros: I do not see any

Summary: Tried this tablet for 1 day and returned it. It is buggy, and many functions expected are not there like email and calendar. Blackberry says that it will issue updates, etc but why in this world they put on the market an unfinished product(same reasoning as Microsoft buy it now and we fix it later). I returned it too much hassle to keep this device which is way inferior to the iPad.

No reason for this product to exist
by Kevico_Suave on April 15, 2011
Pros: Flash, although many Flash sites don't work/crash
UI is fluidCons: Too small - Apple clearly cornered the market on full sized tablet screens
Far too few apps.
Single device platform. Unlike the iPod->iPhone->iPad, the PlayBook is a single device. Apps that you buy on a BlackBerry won't run on it or vice versa.Summary: There really isn't any reason for this product to exist. The iPad and Android tablets offer all kinds of advantages. Summary: There really isn't any reason for this product to exist. The iPad and Android tablets offer all kinds of advantages. It would be one thing if this product was related to the BlackBerry, and gave advantages to BlackBerry users, but it doesn't. Sure you can tether to a BlackBerry, but that's not a platform advantage as you can tether any WiFi tablet to any phone that allows WiFi tethering. Since apps and everything else aren't compatible, you're really looking at a whole new platform that happens to be shipping from the same company as the one who is struggling to remain relevant with the BlackBerry.
@NOCARRIER_416,
7" is the wrong size.
Buying this will leave you stuck with a minority platform that lacks all the apps and accessories everyone else has while not providing any advantage to you as a BlackBerry user. Considering it's the same price as the iPad (despite the smaller size), why not just get an iPad and use that with you BlackBerry if that's the phone you prefer? Or get an Android if for some reason you're stuck on needing 7".

I did use the device, and my review still stands. The Bridge unfortunately, isn't a solution at all on AT&T, and a very poor solution anyway for a device that really should have 3G to begin with, at least as an option. It would be one thing if the Bridge allowed full access, synonymous with tethering but it doesn't. You're significantly limited with what you can do with it... to the point of "what's the point?"... especially on a 7" screen.
Ok, insert here how you can do some trivial little task like checking email when Bridging. That's great, but I can look at my iPad or Android tablet and all the apps I want to run that would not run when Bridged even if they were available for the Playbook, and again know that there also wouldn't be an option with 3G either.2 out of 14 users found this user opinion helpful.

Big disappointment, (What did you expect?)
by calexaka on April 15, 2011
Pros: None that I can see, but may be the name RIM...?
Cons: No email ! You got to be kidding...No 3G ? Are you insane? No native Android?, get out of here...Battery life of 6hrs ! This will not last thru lunch if I used one.

Summary: All the Rave Reviews must be written by RIM CEO's who's bacon are on the line. What is the purpose of this tablet?. Seems like RIM wanted to be in the game but unfortunately failed miserably. Who wants yet another Tablet OS...isn't IOS, Android, and WP7 enough fragmentation already? If this was using Android 3.0 may be it could have had a fighting chance..Did I mention No Email, and 3G? Come on RIM ...What are you thinking? .Good night and Good Luck.
