The good: The Nexus 7 features a sharp screen, a comfortable design, and great battery life at a low starting price. Android 4.2 adds some welcome and useful features.
The bad: Android still needs more tablet-optimized apps, newer games have frame rate issues, and HSPA+ speeds seem particularly location-dependent.
The bottom line: With its excellent design, useful software features, and low starting price, the Nexus 7 is the cheapest way to experience the best that the Android OS has to offer.

Good tablet but NOT for businesses or professionals!

Pros: Great screen, lightning fast response, latest Android OS (4.1)
Cons: No Micro-SD storage
No Rear-facing Camera
No Hard-wired Microphone SupportSummary: No Micro-SD storage.
Cloud storage is certainly a viable option, but call me "old fashioned" I still want a physical removable media option

Cloud storage is certainly a viable option, but call me "old fashioned" I still want a physical removable media option
No rear-facing Camera
This is a HUGE deal breaker. The lack of a front facing camera neuters this device for use with Social Media or other image-centric activities such as Insurance Estimating, Real Estate, etc. It also prohibits the use of applications like ScanLife for scanning QR Codes or other bar codes. The lack of code scanning capability again limits the use of this device as part of any professional workflow.
No 3.5mm External Microphone support
Yep, that's right, the 3.5mm jack on the Nexus is only for a headphone. It does NOT support a microphone. This means more than an inability to use a hard-wired microphone. It also means the Nexus can NOT be used with credit card reader devices from Square, Quicken or PayPal. This is another HUGE #FAIL for small businesses and professionals who, like me, would like to use their tablet as a tool to automate a variety of routine business tasks, including taking payments!
That's it. I'm still looking for the perfect 7" tablet. I'm thinking I may have to wait for a suitable 7" Windows 8 tablet to hit the shelves. -
Best 7-inch tablet on the market
by arvivaz on December 29, 2012
Pros: For what you're paying for, the hardware is great. Well built, solid specs on what's there. Kids like the size and weight, better for their smaller hands.
Cons: No rear camera; no 4G connectivity; some usability issues that you'll need to get used to but is still OK; deserves better technical apps

Summary: Not sure how I can stream HD movies to a Smart TV yet; or music to my audio system. I did not see a native camera app but downloaded an app that can take pics with the front cam. Sorely needs apps I can use for telecom work or wireless data work. Or even videoconferencing via Wi-Fi. Obviously, I need to learn more about this device and Android. But the lack of 4G cell connectivity and the rear cam just really annoys me. No 5.8GHz radio? It's already obsolete. 802.11ac only supports 5.x GHz. Well built but still half-baked, and therefore not as useful as it could be. Bean Counters suck.

Good tablet, worth the price but has browser issue.
by Ahbennon on December 29, 2012

Summary: A good device for the price. However, in comparison of other tablets, the browsing is lagging. Nexus 7 doesn't play any flash format file. The Jelly Bean OS is stable but all the concept of this tablet is to push the use to purchase movies, music, apps from the google store.
A good tablet for watching movies, reading books, listening music but not for browsing, emails or a little bit of more demanding functions. -
Great product for the personal or business user!
by ricks51 on December 13, 2012
Pros: Our company has gonegoogle based on the simple setup, interface and reasonably priced software/hardware, as compared to Microsoft and Apple. Cloud services are also easy to setup and use among our various devices.
Cons: Lack of a SD card or 4G connectivity forces a field worker to use workarounds to access Google Drive, such as an unreliable cellphone hotspot.

Best screen views of any 7" I've seen!
by wayneshaw on December 7, 2012
Pros: You name it!
Cons: Don't like that the home screen won't switch to landscape, but using an add on to make that happen, so no big deal.

Perfect combination of power and portability.
by x0lani on November 29, 2012
Pros: The screen looks good, and it's fast enough for the way I use it - which is mostly email, diary, news reading, and social media. And, the price is right.
Cons: It could use 3G and an expansion slot, but I suspect it would have to cost more.

Awesome tablet, everything you could want, weak screen
by GoolarnGoolyah on November 12, 2012
Pros: Fast, great screen resolution, viewing angle, good speakers, lots of apps, fantastic to use, easy to mod, light, could fit in my man pockets with ease. Great to take everywhere! Good battery life. Just works well.
Cons: The screen is very weak, breaks way too easily (google it to check, irony there). It is also difficult to repair (lack of parts), expensive to get repaired.
Summary: If you want a slate to take everywhere, do everything, fall in love with, enjoy life with, this could be the one. I have a Kindle Fire and two iPAds. ...
Summary: If you want a slate to take everywhere, do everything, fall in love with, enjoy life with, this could be the one. I have a Kindle Fire and two iPAds. Fire is bulky, not as easy to carry around. Being from Australia there is no integration for apps unless you set up an account in the US, get an address and US debit card. Painful. The Nexus 7 just worked straight out of the box (lovely box too). The iPads are awesome, tough, great, easy to use, sooo many apps. But just too large for taking everywhere. I am getting the iPad mini (wifi+cellular) so I can get gps (why they don't have it in the wifi model I do not know). But the Nexus 7 is so cheap I would happily buy one again. If the screen didn't break so easily, I would give it 6 stars, but since its out of five, I drop one star for the screen.

OK, I like it
by tocool37 on November 6, 2012
Pros: Great screen, very fast, long, long battery life, I do like Jelly bean, perfect size to hold, Great E-reader. Touch screen works really nice.
Cons: I do miss the camera, NO flash player drives me nuts sometimes, Google chrome is ok but it just feels kinda incomplete. No HDMI out

Summary: If you are not an Apple fan or just don't want to spend allot of money on a toy and yes Tablets are really a toy. The Nexus 7 is a great tablet I have never been a fan of android phones but I do really like this tablet, it is nice to hold easy to run Google has more than enough apps to keep you happy. I had a playbook before the Nexus and I do miss the back camera but it was not a deal breaker,Over all it is a very good Tablet.
