Lenovo ThinkPad Tablet price range: $490.05

The good: The Lenovo ThinkPad Tablet (upgradeable to Android 4.0) has several business-oriented features that should bring a smile to the IT crowd, along with digital pen support and a beautiful screen.
The bad: The tablet is relatively thick and heavy, with unnecessary navigation buttons and uninspired Android interface optimizations.
The bottom line: If your IT department could design a tablet, the Lenovo ThinkPad Tablet would be it.

A disappointing device, does not work as advertised.
by cpevdlm on December 23, 2011
Pros: Keeps the distinctive thinkpad look and does not try to ape the ipad.
Cons: Very much a beta release, buggy, pen freezes sporadically, most definitely not a professional tool that can be relied upon.

Summary: This is my third thinkpad device, but after this last experience it is also going to be my last. I wanted a portable device I can use to jot down notes during meeting. This proved impossible with this tablet however. A number of major issues are:
- pen freezes or jumps, at which point taking notes becomes impossible (this happens repeatedly).
- palm recognition is nearly useless with lenovo's default note application. I you have the same issue, the Quil app lets you turn off touch which resolves that issue.
- battery indicator is unreliable: it will indicate 30% left on the battery, then the tablet will turn itself off a few minutes later because of the depleted battery.
- recharges extremely slowly, or not at all if you try to use it as it charges.
- tablet shuts off randomly.
- gmail crashes.
- battery being depleted by cell signal (and I have no cell service). This apparently was fixed by the last update.
- USB key suddenly no longer recognized.
More minor gripes, include:
- inability to remove pre-installed lenovo applications. We are grown-up, we do not need to be told what should, or should not be on the device.
- this tablet includes a GPS, seems very hard to get a signal however.
- customer support is non-existent (3 phone calls to be told "ahh this is an ANDROID device, sorry nothing I can do about it, wait for a while to see if an upgrade is coming")1 out of 1 users found this user opinion helpful.

The best, if you're in the target group
by eovti on November 18, 2011
Pros: -The usual high quality build we've come to expect from products with the ThinkPad logo.
-A ton of security features.
-The handwriting recognition is outstanding!
-Relatively short recharging time.Cons: -The shell Lenovo has put on top of Android can be confusing at first.
-Short charger cable: If you want to work with this while it's loading you have to lay down on the floor close to the outlet.Summary:

Good business tablet. Not great for watching videos.
by photog_7 on October 26, 2011
Pros: Quality construction. Nice display. Very good sound quality, but no true equalizer that I could find. Pen input is much more precise than anything available on the iPad. Excellent choice for medical workers who insist on tablets because of the precise pe
Cons: Full-screen video playback is choppy compared to iPad 2. Screen response can be sluggish. Heavy. Battery life is good, but not outstanding.

Summary: I sold my 32GB iPad 2 to but a 64GB ThinkPad tablet. As a business tablet, I think it's great. But in the end, all tablets are pretty much toys running telephone operating sytems that don't handle files as well as PC's. I personally use tablets for web browsing, showing off my pictures, and watching videos. You can read books on the ThinkPad, but I prefer reading on an e-ink Nook or Kindle. The ThinkPad tablet has a better web browser than the iPad 2, but compared to the silky smooth videos on the iPad 2, the ThinkPad's ability to display full-screen videos was a major disappointment for me. I tried it with music videos purchased from iTunes which were located on the tablet, and also with movies on NetFlix and CBS.com television episodes. In every case, the videos were not as silky-smooth as the iPad 2. Don't get me wrong--it DOES display full screen videos, and many people probably would not notice the slight choppiness. If full-screen videos are not important to you, I would not hesitate to purchase this tablet. The web browser with Flash is a definite improvement over the iPad.

Great product for it's market
by panther063 on December 29, 2012
Pros: Nearly everything about it.
Cons: The choice of operating system.
Fell of a bed, two feet of the ground and the screen is now cracked, so much for Gorilla Glass.Summary: Works great, does what it is designed for.
An upgrade to a later version of Android would benefit this device enormously.Summary: Works great, does what it is designed for.

Summary: While buggy at first, Lenovo has made great strives to fix everything that users complained about in their forums. I've been using this tablet since the day it came out and definitely am happy I got one. I use it mainly for taking notes in class, along with videos, games, etc. and it does the job much better than an iPad.

by cfilion on April 13, 2012
Pros: Flash player.
Handwriting recognition the best for the moment.
32 Gbit on + 32 on SD card = great!Cons: Soooooooo slow I can write by hand, scan and use another device to do OCR.
Freez so often that I could use it to cool down my temper!
Battery life... ! Will not recharge on a USB and very slow on outlet.Summary: I bought this in Nov 2011 to replace my Echo Smart Pen.

I am still using my Echo pen (digital Pen with special dot paper) and have given up on using it for real work.
So my advice?
Get an Echo pen and a good eReader (or tablet) that is compatible with Evernote and you are in business. -
Great Business Tablet
by jphbucks on February 13, 2012
Pros: Digitizing pen allows great markup capability
Excellent comfort provided by soft-paint coating and rounded edges
Excellent screen clarityCons: GPS doesn't work at all - a major flaw

Summary: If your objective is business use, you could hardly find a better tablet than this one. The available keyboard folio allows you to use this device as essentially an Android OS netbook, and the provided applications are outstanding for productivity. As soon as Lenovo figures out what is wrong with the GPS in this device, it will be perfect.

iPad killer, Amazing
by pianoguy7 on February 6, 2012
Pros: The ability to accurately write on pictures, Powerpoint slides, and pdf files IN YOUR HANDWRITTING!! I use this tablet to record notes in class and it's way faster than classmates with iPads. FULL USB DRIVE. Decent battery life. Expandable memory(SD)
Cons: a little on the heavy side (but isn't that a plus because it's more sturdy?)
Summary: If you want to watch videos or play games this isn't the tablet for you but if you use your tablet for actual work or web browsing this is ...
Summary: If you want to watch videos or play games this isn't the tablet for you but if you use your tablet for actual work or web browsing this is PERFECT!! Plus you don't have to deal with Apple's vendetta against Flash.
The full size USB is an amazing extra. Try watching your friends on an iPad get information off of non-network computers, it's funny to watch because they can't do it and all you need with a Think pad is a flash drive.
Expandable memory via the SD card is great too!! All in all I got a better tablet than an iPad with double the memory and it was still $50 cheaper than the base iPad. -
disappointed, voice thru skype faint,
by maribee on January 9, 2012
Pros: nice size but heavy, Netflix works well
Cons: Side bottoms useless, screen orientation switches back, no spell checker, when trying to correct spelling no back feature.

Summary: I wouldn't recommend until voice system is improved and more functional software available. No spell check, touch screen freezes, pen doesn't work well. The software available very limited, often doesn't work. Facebook and Skype terrible. I was travelling in Asia for 6 weeks, the only thing worked well was email. I followed news on Yahoo. Used Yahoo from the browser so did Facebook. Voice/sound is terrible and will have to return it for a fix.
