Samsung Galaxy Tab (Sprint) price range: $199.99
- Reviewed by: Donald Bell

The good: Samsung's 7-inch Android tablet is a serious contender to the Apple iPad, boasting two cameras, Flash compatibility, and a more convenient size.
The bad: The Tab behaves more like a supersize Android phone than a Netbook alternative. The Android OS and its apps aren't yet optimized for the larger screen. Depending on your plan, you may be in for a two-year contract and a commitment to monthly charges.
The bottom line: The Galaxy Tab is a beautiful product with features that will make iPad owners envious, but its in-between size and possible carrier commitments hold it back from broad appeal.

Needs a phone

Pros: Its the perfect size
Cons: This thing really needs a phone. For those of us who choose not to ruin their eye sight using the current crappy little not-so-smart phones..

Summary: This devise would be awesome if it had a phone. It's not too big and not too small. All these small so called smart phones are so small they are making us all go blind due to eye strain.. It also needs a more functional browser that can operate Quickbooks Online. The truth is that the IPhone, Blackberry and Android is useless as a business tool unless your a prostitute on Facebook,,,sorry just the facts...

Communication On The Go
by jnpurdy on January 3, 2011
Pros: WiFi enabled. Fast processor. With all the WiFi locations, access to eMail and the Internet is easy. Do you really need a 3G or 4G in a large city -- Starbucks anyone?
Cons: The applications I would have to give up that are Windows based, like ACT! for me.
Summary: It won't replace your notebook, but it will keep you connected.

good product

Pros: Fast. Well built with a slick design. Runs almost all Android apps. Supports Adobe Flash 10.1.
Cons: Not enough tablet-centric software. Reflective screen. Slick back.

Very biased review by Donald..
by deoray on October 29, 2010
Pros: Full Android market place
Front facing camera
Full web including flash
micro SD slot
(these are all features which IPad lacks)Cons: Donald Sucks!!! Based on features of Galaxy Tab (which Ipad lacks) how can you give ipad 8 and galaxy tab 7.7 when you accepted that both are unique devices in there own ways.
Summary: This is very biased if Ipad get 8/10 and galaxy tab getting 7.7/10. I get a feeling that Donald Bells review was not appropriate. In review, he ...
Summary: This is very biased if Ipad get 8/10 and galaxy tab getting 7.7/10. I get a feeling that Donald Bells review was not appropriate. In review, he accepted that Galaxy tab is a capable device with its own form factor. Just be honest, if we can use 3.5 inch screen with fingers then why do we need to worry about 7 inch screen. For those who care about weight, it?s a big plus. If argument is about cost of the device then Galaxy tab definitely has more features like full web including flash (which lot of people care), front facing camera, full android market place etc.

I REALLY REALLY LOVE IT!
by _Bobcat_ on February 28, 2011
Pros: The ability to get on line with out the hassles is outstanding. I was going to get I-Pad but I am glad I waited I am very happy with my G-tab. 5 stars for Sprint.
Cons: It needs a slide-out keyboard like some modles of the phones do, instead of the touch pad on the screen.
Summary: Acessability is great If you use a Droid Phone you would understand what I mean. This thing is great. I call it my mini Computer cause thats pretty much what ...
Summary: Acessability is great If you use a Droid Phone you would understand what I mean. This thing is great. I call it my mini Computer cause thats pretty much what it is. I travle alot ride motorcycles & I need something compact to carry on my trips with me to keep me hooked up on line. If I get Lost on the roads No Problem GPS It knows where I am and even which direction I am facing.

So close to being great
by dirtymuskee on February 20, 2011
Pros: Easy to use and well laid out.
Cons: How can you have a device with no spell check! there is no spell check for the email or messaging client. I dont get it.i really dont want to buy an Ipad but i may be left with no choice.
Summary: It concerns me that something as common as spell check would be left out of a final production model. I also have an EVO. It is strange that my smart ...

Can't Make Phone Calls???
by BookishBetty on February 11, 2011
Pros: Primarily PRO due to Blackboard access through my university: I can grade student work, post to course website AND do my own research and work through an interface big enough so its kind to my eyes, but not so big as to hurt my back.
Cons: NO Phone Call Capability??!! A Deal Breaker.
Summary: Is it true that you can't make phone calls on this thing?!? What the heck is wrong with both Samsung and Sprint??

As an overburdened grad student, when I heard about a seven inch Tab from my carrier, I was completely sold! I was ecstatic and On My Way to buy a Galaxy Tab Today - I need something to make working & grading papers on the train during my approx. 2hr commute possible without breaking my back! I thought it would be Magical, Wonderful, Amazing to have the option of leaving my laptop at home and having something that will fit in My Purse AND still allow me to use Blackboard and do research!...
BUT I am a poor graduate student! I can't pay for a phone AND a shiny 7" toy, no matter how useful. If I can't make phone calls, the simplest and original reason for these things to exist, why would I but it?? This is a very, very, very basic function!! Why didn't Samsung and Sprint think of this during development?? Did they not care about commuters who might, you know, want to make a call while en route, but do not want to walk around like a Best Buy store with a half dozen technological devices?!
Sigh. If I can't trade my Treo for a better, more functional tool that's a perfect 7" size/weight, with browsing, google doc, regular word, other useful apps, AND the ability to Make Phone Calls, then I'll just keep my Treo for now.
LISTEN UP Sprint/Samsung:
As soon as you make this thing functional in the one way that makes sense when buying an android from Sprint - Sprint's a cell phone company, right? - I will buy one.
As soon as you allow me to transfer my phone number over to it and call/surf the web on the same device, I will be in the Sprint store ready to sign up.0 out of 1 users found this user opinion helpful.

fits the bill for an email/internet device
by CDFOX on December 19, 2010
Pros: I've been looking for an email/internet only device without a phone or need to sign up for another phone plan (more bicks). Discovered the Tab today on the Sprint site. $29.99/month for 2 GB, the lowest level use sounds good.
Cons: I don't know how to figure out how many gigs I need but $29.99/month sounds good for starters since I won't be watching movies or gaming. Initial product price of $399.99 is a bit steep when you don't know if you'll like a product.
Summary: Can't really say. Looks good but I haven't bought yet.
