  Mediocre gps mapping software at a premium price

  Summary: I received Navigator 5 two weeks ago,loaded into a Dell X50V pda.The first thing I noticed was a limited number of points of interest and outdated maps.For a $125.00 and the hype associated with it I expected better.The maps are loaded by region,state,city or a group of states they've preselected.The problem rises when you try to get to where your going if your start and finish are not contained in one of these regions or preselected group of states.You can't get door to door directions.
  If you travel alot that can be a problem.When you combine that with outdated maps and a very limited number of poi's it's over priced and pails in comparison to other much cheaper products. If you want the best and want to pay for it get Garmins City Select V6.Unfortunately I found this out after buying Navigator 5.If you get Navigator 5 forget about customer service you can only contact them by e-mail and I have yet to get them to respond.

  Pros: Great voice prompts (much less annoying than navigator and also more concise). The 3d mode is impressive (only on VGA screens however) and I just haven't had any problems with it.

  Cons: Sometimes, there's a little too much stylus taps required in changing POIs or options

  Summary: My family and I have tried almost all of the currently available (Feb-06) PDA navigation software. Microsofts Pocket Streets is the most up to date reliable maps, but tomtom has the best in-car directions I've seen. Navigator came close in functionality, but the UI and voice prompts are much more pleasant in TomTom.
