Ok card for cheap
by xnovakx on January 1, 2006
Pros: Cheap, easy install, works
Cons: not many features, not the greatest video quality

Summary: I bought this unit so I can watch TV and surf the web. The software is very basic but it has an easy setup wizard and DVR functionality although that is also bare bones. Biggest complaint is the video quality bad at the regular setting and is a little jumpy at the best quality setting, I have an amd 1.8ghz with 1 gig of ram and an ati 800.

Stick with Hauppauge WinTV products
Pros: None
Cons: I replaced an older WinTV product with a new TV Wonder Pro. The old WinTV was created for Windows 95 and worked better and had a clearer picture. Stick with the Hauppauge WinTV products, they are second to none when dealing withTV-tuner cards

Piece of junk...
Pros: Easy to connect camcorder or VCR to device.
Cons: After installation I lost sound and drivers for Soundblaster Live! Value. Had to phsyically remove sound card and reinstall it, drivers, and updates. Device worked once...sort of. It captured from camcorder once and there was no sound! After that this car

Don't Waster your money
by SSiegel97 on January 11, 2006
Pros: Insterting the card is easy, that's about it.
Cons: Incompatible with Soundblaster Cards, Buggy Software
Summary: This worked fine for me for 2months, then the sound went away, then it came back, then a couple weeks later it died.

ATI tech support is a joke. After listening to 15mins of voice prompts telling you to go to the site to read generic help, you finally get a tech level 1. This level one basically just reads off the ATI website, then sends you off to Level 2, who in most cases is too annoyed with their mundance occupation and cannot help you.
Avoid this junk.
Incompatible with Soundblaster Audigy cards. They tech guy was like, well, we can "work around it" by setting up the card in some strange way (through the microphone port). I am going to purchase a Hauppague USB, give that a go.1 out of 1 users found this user opinion helpful.

Buyer Beware - Buggy Software
by pl8trader on June 11, 2005

Summary: I bought this card a couple of months ago , And when I first installed it,it worked fine for about the first 3 video transfers ( I bought to transfer VHS videos to DVD not for the TV )After the first 3 transfers the TV section quit working ( video capture won't work without it)And I have not been able to get it to work since . I downloaded EVERY VERSION of their upgrades and have yet to get ANY of them to even install. I have uninstalled and reinstalled their BUGGY software so many times I have lost count.I also swapped it out to another slot as they sugest , no help, didn't change a thing. I even went and bought one of their AGP video cards (Raedon 9200)thinking that would help , boy was I wrong ! DON'T BUY THIS PRODUCT!!!!

Works well for standard hardware, difficult installation
by cireph on March 27, 2005
Pros: A ton of features
Cons: Will not work with all hardware
Summary: The most important comment the installation code isn't the one on the disk, its in the manual somewhere. I spent an hour just looking for installation code.

This card works well enough for me. I have a HP Vectra vi8 with Intel PII 500Mhz and 512Mb. Users have complained that the card will not work with AMD processes and various sound cards (I don't have a sound card)
If you do purchase this card, first install the latest software directly from the manufacture. As of May 2004, the included software was buggy and way out of date.
With this TV card I can record shows on my computer and play them back later. FYI, while watching TV I can't do anything else. I've always wondered if a bigger and better processor would allow me to multi-task. If you know the answer let me know.1 out of 1 users found this user opinion helpful.

Crummy
Pros: Stereo, will work as XP wallpaper, works with both monitors on a nVidia card, Guide Plus+
Cons: This was one of the worse installs ever ... and keep in mind the first program I ever installed on a computer was done in hex back in '82. It keep crashing my nice and stable system and freezing her up whenever I wanted to use any features to the point w

I had no major problems.
Pros: Software installation without a hitch in 98. The few problems, display glitch in XP and no audio during recording were fixed by updating drivers from ATI site, and adjusting audio source until it worked. (mobo audio ports do NOT match windows volume prope
Cons: Software on CD was out of date. Online help options and specification info on ATI site could be better. ATI software capture res could be better (640x240), but Pinacle studio captures at 704x480, so it's a software thing.

You get what you Pay for.
Pros: 1. Video Quality better than comparable cards. 2. The only problem with the software was the human (me) 3. This card isn't overclocked, so it should last longer.
Cons: 1. Video/Audio gets out of sync at highest setting. Probably a DMA setting on my computer. Not a real problem, since most VHS is lower REZ. 2. No FM or remote control, but I bought it to rip family videos. Not channel surf.
