Pros: I am converting my old VHS & Super-VHS videos to digital files right now. I can leave them in the MAC MOV format or convert them to Window WMV files.
The ADVC55 runs on fire wire power, I don't need an AC adapter on the road!
Cons: It is not a professional converter thus the low $200 dollar price tag. A "real" converter starts around $2000 dollars then goes up.

Summary: Unless you have a SVHS, Hi 8mm VCR with a RS232 port/USB or fire wire, this is a good deal. This box also lets me convert PAL video, yes I do have PAL videos. Go to http://www.youtube.com/sirrom0206 and look at my Toshimaen VHS conversion video.
The Toshi video is my first of 20+ years of videos converted and posted to YouTube. Some videos will go on YouTube & others will go to DVD to be pass out at family reunions. I've burned the Toshi video to DVD and it Looks great! Actually it looks better than on YouTube.
I've already transferred 5+ hours of video to my computer. Without this converter box some of our family & community events would have been forgotten.
Both my IMAC and my Windows XP supports the ADVC55. I am no computer god thus, this should work for you too.
