never buy! dies after few months
by bullhead242 on June 25, 2010
Pros: loved the metal casing and the form factor. most importantly, it could stay with my keys and never fall off, have the key-ring-connector break, etc.
Cons: everything else. slow, and dies without warning.
Summary: lost the cap pretty much immediately, not a big deal. the data transfer speeds are quite slow, almost down to USB 1.1 levels. most importantly, they die without warning, ...
Summary: lost the cap pretty much immediately, not a big deal. the data transfer speeds are quite slow, almost down to USB 1.1 levels. most importantly, they die without warning, and without cause.
I owned one of these drives, and used it at work fairly regularly, but i wouldn't say excessively. my first one died after a few months, but i figured i had done something to it, spilled something on my keys, dropped it too many times, something. loved the metal and the key shape, so i bought another.
one day, i'm trying ot move some files from my laptop to my playstation and my laptop stops recognizing the drive. move it to another slot, try it in the playstation and another desktop, still nothing. the drive become a paperweight, while i was using it, with no apparent provocation.
needless to say, i will not be buying another Lacie product.4 out of 4 users found this user opinion helpful.

Cons: your drive will fail within 18 months. look on the net a research before you buy. you'll see!
Summary: Lacie produces horrible products. if you value your data and don't want to spent over $1k in recovery look elsewhere

fails after a few months
by mrdistortion on September 28, 2010
Pros: slick looking, compact , large capacity
Cons: failed after a few months and LaCie refuses to honor the warranty without a proof of purchase or the original packaging

Worse flash drive on the market
by Philippemqt on June 8, 2011
Pros: GOOD LOOKS
Cons: Looks like a good idea, but this is the worse flash drive you can buy. I bought 2 Cie in 3 months. They get damaged very easily. The first one peeled off in half after 3 months and the second one stop working all together without warning a week later. Not
Summary: Very disappointing - get damaged - stop working without warning - not worth the risk

by irathke on June 8, 2011
Pros: Fits nicely on key ring. Convenient.
Cons: Expensive. Didn't last long. Can't reformat. Dead.
Summary: I wouldn't buy this since it is expensive and lasted about a month past warranty.

LaCie Key is easy to carry
by Jordon Berkove on June 8, 2011
Pros: Easy to carry.
Cons: Need to use USB extension as the weight of my keys causes bending if shoved in the back of a customers PC.
I believe the cause of breakage is flexing of the end that you push in causes PC board damage. WARRANTY IS RIDICULOUSSummary: A redesign would take care of this issue

Best USB 2.0 keychain drive on the market, period.
by revdrmr on November 2, 2010
Pros: I think it?s a great product, a USB drive that doesn?t break off your keychain, isn?t so big it gets in the way and most importantly reasonably priced.
Cons: That cap to cover the connectors is worthless. I marked off half a star from this product for the sole reason of a company creating unnecessary waste. We even bet how long it would take to lose it, less than 2 minutes after unpacking the product.

Summary: Some of these reviews complain about their thumb drives going bad in 18 months??? Whatever, I guess I?d rather have a failed drive that is still readable that than loose it or have to replace it every 3 months. In my opinion, if you want speed get a USB 3.0 or eSATA storage device. If you want security and the ability to be hack proof, get an IronKey. If you need bigger size get a portable magnetic disk harddrive like a WD Passport. This device is for people that want to carry common, unsecure files with them, that?s what I need it for. If it fails it fails, it?s a single media storage device. As a system administrator I know enough not to store things that are important and secure on a device that can fit in my pocket and be easily lost or broken.

Durable but extremely slow
by charnish on March 23, 2010
Pros: I liked that it is on my key ring, so when I leave it in the back of a client's computer and get to my car and can't find my keys, I suddenly realize that I left the drive with my keys in the back of some computer.
Cons: It seemed to work well when I first bought it, but now it is so slow!!!
When I click on it to open it, it can take up to a minute to show it's contents. Read speed varies, but can be as slow as a few KB/sec.Summary: It is too slow to be useful and must be replaced.
