Summary: Dont think I'm writing a bad review because I'm stupid and broke this usb drive. This product has failed on me three seperate times. I've allready gotten 2 warantee replacements, for the two other times it failed and ruined my day/week/month.
the first time i thought i did something wrong, maybe i was too rough on it or i didn't eject it. Second time i thought was a component failure cause it showed up as a 0 byte drive. This time there is no reason for it to have failed.
If you want reliable go somewhere else!1 out of 1 users found this user opinion helpful.

Summary: This is the best flash drive i have ever used. It comes with lots of software for keeping your data safe, a lan yard, extra colored caps, and the san disk name that you can trust. Before this, i bought a Lexar Secure jump drive, and the drivers would not install on my windows 98 computer.. None of the lexar tech people knew what the problem was either. The drivers for the san disk cruzer mini came in an install package that made it VERY easy to install on my windows 98 computer. I highly recomend this to anyone who needs there data to be portable.

Nice and Portable!

Pros: 256 MB of plug and play portable disk space!
Cons: Only 256 MB of plug and play portable disk space!
Summary: The portability of USB is great for when a floppy disk isn't enough but burning a CD may be too much.

I used the 256 MB San Disk Cruzer with my VR3 MP3 USB FM car modulator on a trip from Northern to Southern California which was a 5 and a half hour trip.
The San Disk held enough MP3 music for nearly 4 hours of playing time without repeating a song!
Not bad for such a small capacity. For longer trips, I suggest either a larger capacity flash drive or bring several San Disks with you. -
Outperforms Lexar's Model
by chammi on March 24, 2005
Pros: Nice extras like extra caps and a detachable neckstrap, Reliable name in flash memory
Cons: Cruzer Lock doesn't work on some machines, but that's more a Windows/networking permissions issue and not the drive's fault.
Summary: I tried the Lexar JumpDrive Secure and was underwhelmed. Happily, returned the Jumpdrive and bought this Cruzer Mini online for less!
The only flaw I've detected thus far is ...Summary: I tried the Lexar JumpDrive Secure and was underwhelmed. Happily, returned the Jumpdrive and bought this Cruzer Mini online for less!
The only flaw I've detected thus far is that you won't be able to run the built-in password protection/encryption software on machines that you don't have administrative access to. This security feature on Windows PCs affected the Jumpdrive, too--it popped up an ugly error message every time I plugged it in. How annoying! The Sandisk drive doesn't harrass you unless you specifically TRY to run the encryption software, and it plays better with Win 9x than the Jumpdrive does. It also works cheerfully on Linux (KDE) and Mac OS X systems.
Both drives offer USB 2.0 speed (but also compatible with slower USB portS) and 256 MB of space, but the SanDisk is slimmer. This more elegant design means that you can fit it into a slot, even if your computer's backside is jammed with bulky peripheral plugs. Because of a large printer cable getting in the way, I couldn't fit the wide Jumpdrive into my work computer's slot.
The San Disk Cruzer also comes with 3 caps with different colors. They click on securely, and I haven't lost one yet.. but there were a couple of close calls and it's nice to know that my drive's connectors won't go unsheltered if I lose a cap. The package even includes a handy strap that lets you wear the drive as you would a necklace. for your convenience, it easily detaches from the neckstrap via a small clip, so you don't have to keep it on the strap all the time. It may not be multifunctional, but it gets the job done well and with style.
I've had bad experiences with flash memory in the the past. It doesn't seem to last more than a couple of years before losing integrity, but SanDisk was a pioneer in flash-based storage and is still a big name, so I'm hopeful that their products will withstand the test of time. I've had my Cruzer Mini for about 6 months and so far, it's been a reliable companion. -
many computers do not have drivers
Pros: I am a police officer and I save my police reports to my mini cruz and the templates for the reports.
Cons: I have problems with several computers not having the drivers downloaded and the mini cruz will not work. I then try to find on the internet and download. time wasted.

Great except that Cruzerlock 1.1 gave headache
Pros: Small size, design is sleeker that its competitors, Large LED light at the end. Reasonabel price.
Cons: I am on my 3rd Cruzer Mini. I bought a 256Mb Cruzer Mini a year ago and it works well. A month ago I bought a 512 Mb one which came with the CruzerLock 1.1; It worked fine until I bought the 1 Gb Cruzer Mini. After that I encrypted some important files, t

Really easy to use and good size
Pros: It's really easy to use by simply plugging it in the USB port. Then, there are instructions within it, which is easy to follow and explains how secure your files will be in 'Cruzerlock'. Also, it comes with a neck strap, which seems kind of handy if you
Cons: Although there is a replaceable cap, and you can place the cap at the opposite end of the USB flash drive when in use, I find that I will be able to lose the cap easily. Then again, it came with 2 additional caps of 2 different colors. But still, I wish
