Good boat anchor
by c6684 on March 8, 2011
Pros: There is nothing good to say about this
Cons: If it stays in 1 place on carpet for any length of time while using the hose attachment (for furniture) it actually damages the carpet like a burn; if you move the vacuum while using the attachment, hair poofs out of the place where the hose attached

Summary: Very difficult to even use the 'pet hair eraser attachment'--cannot get it detached very easily from the vacuum; stairways are very awkward; vacuum heavy; No matter how clean the filters are kept, it is a very dusty dirty vacuum and it has a great time spreading it around the house; tons of static buildup in upper filter so when it's removed the hair sticks to your hands and flies around the room; the cord location is just poorly designed and always in the way; the cord 'holder' that is used to keep it out of the way isn't even large enough to accomodate the cord; the headlilght really never worked-now it may just pop on for a couple seconds and then go out again;...Bissell needs to contact real people who vacuum in real situations when they are product testing. I wish I had another 150 bucks to go buy a different vacuum...

Best Vacuum I Have Ever Owned
by chudson65 on July 3, 2011
Pros: Awesome suction - removed hair and dirt that I couldn't see
Easy to push and pull
Easy to empty - no filter to accidentally toss from the container
Easy to use hand tools - and they store handily by clipping to the vacuumCons: Small amount of debris on top of vacuum when removing container to empty

Summary: After purchasing this vacuum, I read reviews and noted a mix of positive and negative ones, so I wanted to express my opinion. We have 3 inside dogs, 2 more that go in and out, and a cat. I have gone through approximately one vacuum per year for the past 10 years, but never thought any of them picked up all of the hair. The first time I used the Bissell Pet Hair Eraser vacuum, I had to empty the hair 4 times while vacuuming the den. I have continued to be impressed with the suction power of this machine, and with the pet hair bar on the front. I have had none of the problems mentioned in some of the negative reviews. When using the accessories, the roller bar on the front does not touch my carpet and is not a problem. I have not had trouble removing the tools from their clips, or with the hose coming loose while using the tools. I think this vacuum is definitely worth the $138 I paid, and deserves 5 stars!!

Worst Piece of Garbage Ever!

Updated on Apr 13, 2011Summary:
I bought this because I read many excellent reviews, and desperately needed something that could pick up the hair from my two long-haired dogs. It worked well exactly once - the first time. After that, I spent more time trying to get all the hair and dirt out of the constantly clogged filter, in the process scraping my hands to pieces. There was constantly dirt everywhere, and the vacuum was covered in it. I've had it six months, and last weekend it stopped sucking completely. I have to say, I'm actually happy about that, because I can't wait to go buy a vacuum (with a bag), that actually works!

Summary: We bought this since it was geared towards pet owners. What a crock! It doesn't pick up hair like it should. I can see the hair on the floor after vacuuming. So I'm afraid to think about all of the dirt it's leaving behind. I have to tear it apart to clean it out and put the belt back on every week. And most recently the motor burned out and started smoking.
The stair attachment is a joke. I can't get any further than 2 stairs before having to take that apart to clean it out just in order to keep going!

Summary: a family member bought this for the "pet hair remover" which was a dinky piece of plastic that you have to attach to a hose and scrub carpets by hand with if you have a hairy pet, which we do, the hose broke after one use and it the vacuum itself doesnt even suck up pet hair, it pushes it into tiny hairballs. the box had fals advertising and it was expensive. do NOT buy.

Very Unhappy with this product!!
by ferby8 on July 4, 2009
Pros: Seems to pick up alot of dirt( but I think this dirt is what the vaccuum is creating itself)!!!!
Cons: Very Heavy, Continously needs cleaned, Always has problems.

Summary: I read reviews on this product before I bought it, and a couple people liked it but the majority didn't. I was thinking to myself, well maybe these people aren't easily satisfied, or maybe they just happened to get a "bad batch"...BOY was I wrong! I bought this vaccuum, and during the 1st week I had problems. I feel like the vaccuum itself makes the majority of the dirt that it's picking up! This vaccuum is also very heavy, and is extremely hard to do steps. It constently needs to be cleaned, both the filters and EVERYTHING. Even the outside. This thing creates SOOO much dust, it's unbelievable! Makes really loud noises sometimes, even though it is thoroughly cleaned. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS VACUUM. Do not buy!

A disasterous product , not fit for purpose
by beaujazz on June 14, 2009

Summary: The power cord exits the machine so low on to the ground the power cable has to be held at an awkward angle to avoid running over it. Get this wrong and you end up with a perm! The machine is light and unstable when being used with the hose and falls on to you causing countless bruises. The in built light broke within 1 week. Now 3 months on the height adjustment knob has also broken. I owned my Dyson for 7 years and it still out performs this heap!
