Pros: Great interface, Shortcuts, logging system, output, effects, real-time editing, good audio editing, definetly better than FCP or AVID!
Cons: A bit slow sometimes

Summary: I don't know why so many people don't rate Premiere Pro 1.5 as being a great video editing program. I guess they only had the experience with previous versions of Premiere. This version cannot be compared to the other versions because it's completely different!I've been using it for over a year now and I can tell you that it's a very stable and professional program. I've edited more than 20 different projects on it without a problem! And the thing is that I used my Acer Travelmate 800 laptop with no additional hardware!Believe me, Premiere Pro will be industry standard in a very short period of time!

Summary: I've just finished weeks of editing on Premiere Pro, and I am not a happy editor. I'm not entirely sure if this is any better than the previous version I worked on (6.5). Adobe mostly seems to have tried to "streamline" things - by removing features... including some of the ones that were dorky but at least made Premiere quite easy to slap something together quickly and easily.
And I'm still not converted from Avid. Avid is more precise, and much more logical. In Premiere Pro, you can waste hours trying to work out how to do something perfectly ordinary (like do an "extract" properly)... Things are just inconsistent.
And it's slow. I was using a 2.8GHz P4 with 1GB RAM and 300GB of RAID hard drives... And I just found the interface sticky and annoying.
Then there was a weird instability problem when using my Matrox RT.X100 graphics card... Hmmmmm...
Pros: Excellent Organization; Easy to Use; Very Creative
Cons: Seamingly Slow Rendering, Few Special Effects

Summary: If you are going to stay with a PC, the Adobe platform will be your best bet. However, I suggest getting the whole suite (Encore, Photoshop, After Effects, Premeire) because if you buy one you'll soon find you need them all. Premiere does awesome editing, but for effects After Efeects is a must, but you can't burn properly to DVD without Encore, and who can work with any of thise without the mother Photoshop? Take the plunge and save money by getting the suite and not piece-meal.
Summary: Anyone who says that Premiere Pro 1.5 isn't better than 6.5 hasn't really used either.
It's not Avid or Final Cut, it's Premiere! If you know the Adobe interface and work flow, you should have no problem with little time invested. It's also stable. I've used it on many projects from web video to DVD prep without a crash. This includes using it on a P4, 3.0GHZ, 512 MB memory laptop.
Premiere Pro has been a pleasure to work with each time I fire it up. Of course, it plays well with other Adobe applications (no, I don't work for or with Adobe!). I look forward to see what 2.0 will have!
