Improved features and menus
by wornerc on September 16, 2008
Pros: Every type of disk you can possibly burn in every way is here. Burns HD, blu-ray, even to regular disks. Can span files, compress dual layer to a single layer disk.
Cons: Still a very large program and requires a lot of space.

Summary: I'm getting HDTV now and for some programs, especially sports ones I want to keep the HD quality. I tried the HD video burning on a regular dvd. It did keep the quality, but keep in mind that the storage is more limited. The bluray plugin comes in handy and allows HD video editing. I can cut out the junk and keep the file to a minimum. Of course it will burn HD dvds but I will have to purchase a burner. It also makes a virtual image and keeps an index. Good enough video/photo programs, but not pro grade. Music is more comprhensive and playlists and autotagging are strong features.

Keeps what works, Adds new features.
by saiyio on September 13, 2008
Pros: As an experienced Creator user I'm pleased w/ the new features. Video formats have ramped up considerably. There is better HD and blu-ray video support. Overall burning speed has improved.
Cons: PhotoSuite hasn't changed much but it is still a good program. I would look to the other programs if you have an older creator version.
Summary: I can utilize my PS3 as a blu-ray player too and justify the premium price I paid. The PS3 is still a bargain compared with getting just a plain blu-ray ...
Summary: I can utilize my PS3 as a blu-ray player too and justify the premium price I paid. The PS3 is still a bargain compared with getting just a plain blu-ray player. The burning speed is crucial now that high end video takes more space than ever. Menu templates now have High def ones with animation. In short the disk burning options have increased. I like the ease of use and the one-step burning option. Once I set my defaults I can save them.

Installs & runs good; new features valuable to some
by damonjoy on October 21, 2008
Pros: Improved performance across the board as far as I can tell. I've owned several versions and at least this is the best for Vista.
Cons: New features may or may not be right for users of older versions.

Summary: First I have no big complaints about the performance. In fact it is better than ever and Roxio has imporved the menus and speed of everything. When it comes to features though it depends on what you got. I don't see enough major improvements from 9 except for the HD/BD burning and editing. The fact that it burns these formats on standard disks is a big deal, but at the price it may be better to wait or just get a special program. Of course having speedier burning rates is great, but again not worth the price for it alone. If you don't already have the media editing programs and a good disk authoring program, I say get it. If you have ones you're happy with, check out all the specs and see if you are in need of the new features. Otherwise you may want to wait for the next version.

This Product is a disaster
by col0320 on June 26, 2009
Pros: It sounds good on paper but it stops there.
Cons: Constantly crashes something on my PC when it is in use. Don't try and get help from Roxio because their online support is useless, provides bad or non workable solutions. When you go back and say "That didn't work!" they reply with the same advice.
Summary: Bad, Bad product. User support consists of having to go out into the Internet and just hope there is a forum out there that maybe, just maybe could help you.

Handy, faster media suite
by mollesun on October 14, 2008
Pros: I like the new menus and it is a better fit with Vista than version 9. Perhaps 9 tried to do too much when Vista was young. It seems more stable and even faster.
Cons: IT doesn't seem to play bluray disks, even ones that I burned with the roxio program. I did play them on my bluray player though.
Summary: It is user friendly and convenient. Some tasks I can do in a short time like photo slide shows, converting media, burning regular disks. Even the burning seems quicker. A ...
Summary: It is user friendly and convenient. Some tasks I can do in a short time like photo slide shows, converting media, burning regular disks. Even the burning seems quicker. A new syncit program has convenience of dragging files and converting to my ipod. It creates index of all the disks so I can keep a catalog on the drive. New bluray option burns advanced format with a regular burner.

This is the worst purchase of s/w I have EVER made
by Marcella54 on February 7, 2010
Pros: There are absolutely NO pros!! .
Cons: Unless you enjoy the frustration of wasting money, nonexistant support from Roxio, and your computer(s) crashing constantly; I recommend that you avoid all versions of Roxio Creator 9 and 10.
Summary: Silly me, I believed the web site info about trying a different version... I now have 3 versions that will not work on any of my 4 computers. (all are ...
Summary: Silly me, I believed the web site info about trying a different version... I now have 3 versions that will not work on any of my 4 computers. (all are Vista)
I had a working Roxio Easy CD & DVD Creator (version 5 I think) on my old desk top that worked just wonderfully with XP but alas even that stopped working when Roxio stopped supporting it..... (I did not rent the program , I PURCHASED it so why could they take it away and make it unuseble???)
Shame on Roxio for not supporting their own (Now departed) cutomers with help to make these very attractive and probably useful programs to install and run as advertised.....
I would have given these programs a ZERO star rating but there wasn't an option for that!!! -
Hog, not intuitive, no assistance with product failures
by Tbird49er on September 23, 2009
Pros: Haven't found a good point yet. I purchased the Roxio Creator 2009 Ultimate (ultimate embarrassment!)
Cons: too slow, no easy player, no desktop controls or widgets to speed the process, etc.
Summary: 1.) massive hog for what it does, 2.) difficult and slow to burn CD's...even audio CD's, 3.) cannot easily create audio info to go with audio CD'...
Summary: 1.) massive hog for what it does, 2.) difficult and slow to burn CD's...even audio CD's, 3.) cannot easily create audio info to go with audio CD's, 4.) very cumbersome label creator...can't even pull info from an audio CD created by Roxio to create a label, 5.) couldn't get a refund, but they will quickly and gladly laugh in your face when you contact them. It will be the last time (1st AND last) that I will use any of their products. Bad enough experience that I will actively spread the word as far and wide as possible. They need to be out of the cyberspace gene-pool....guess I'll have to revert to Nero and hope others enter the market.

roxio 10 was my worst software exprience ever
by nelsenca on August 30, 2009
Pros: I liked what I read on the box
Cons: crashes system, fails during use, roxio support is non-existent

Summary: never been so frustrated with a software in all the years of owning a pc. re-installed it three times on my home desktop pc, wiping the windows registry completely clean each time. each time the components would work for a while, then start crashing again. installed it on a new dell d630 laptop with all the bells and whistles and roxio 10 behaved the same exact way. filed numerous technical and customer support tickets with roxio. they are very slow to respond to begin with, and none of their fixes worked. then they just stopped responding. the best help i have gotten is from searching online for independent roxio help forums.
My Roxio Easy Media Creator 10 remains in my desk and not on my pc desktop. after numerous complaints and tickets, the only solution Roxio has offered is to re-install it. after un-installing, scrubbing the windows registry, and re-installing three times with the same negative results, I have given up. Roxio will never get another cent from me.
do yourself a favor and spend your time and money on a product that both works and is supported.

Video capture o.k. S'ware suite is a resource hog.
by techCheck on June 21, 2009
Pros: Video capture module (via USB 2.0) seems to work o.k. Sound and picture are in sync at "SP DVD" capture setting. Most encoding is done on the fly with a short period to wrap up the file after capture is stopped.
Cons: Very slow to do any other work (1.6GHz celeron w/ 750MB ram). Switching screens takes forever, and the software suite seem to be a mash of older stuff with a new splash screen (brings back nightmares of my first ROXIO CD program from late 90s).
Summary: Tried to make a "DVD compilation" and after 3hr. progress bar was only 30%.

Tried DVD authoring and it took forever (as if entire files were being transferred) just to change playback order.
Text menu titles didn't seem to be available in DVD mode-moving "previews" and menu background music (couldn't delete!) were generated, wasting valuable file space.
Menu in CD creator appears to be a kluge from DOS days--window not big enough to show file names, and panes cannot be resized like typical menus.
Except for the video capture module, this is pretty useless. I will look for another program to edit and create DVDs. My PC exceeds hardware requirements, but this software just B o G ..s .....i.....t............D........O..........W................N. -
HD and BluRay editing limited and inconsistant.
by Grand_Pierre on March 28, 2009
Pros: Simple and easy to use
Cons: Does not handle all AVCHD formats equally well. Transcodes AVCHD files to .mpg in Videowave and MyDVD. Final result can be choppy and uneven.
Summary: For consistent AVCHD editing results, look elsewhere.
