The good: With its hybrid drive system, the 2012 Toyota Prius v averages better than 40 mpg. Entune gives it useful app integration, with Pandora, OpenTable, and others.
The bad: The drivetrain makes a tortured sound under heavy acceleration. The iPod integration did not work reliably with anything older than an iPhone 4.
The bottom line: Excellent fuel economy and a large, airy cabin make the 2012 Toyota Prius v a very practical choice for families, and new electronics give it a modern tech edge.
Pros: High MPG, not a bad car as to handling, and when you get up to free speed it will go (so be careful). Lots of space in the "truck" back seats have a lot of leg room.
Cons: no HP, use to my cl500 and S4 so Prius V doesn't compair; however, one does not buy Pruis for HP. wished they allow me to add the better sound system and dash with out the rest of the toys I dont want.

Summary: I was in the market to get a new hybrid car, and it was between reg. Prius, Prius V, and CMax... front runner at the time was reg Prius, but once I sat in the (V) I was SOLD... the feel of and all the extra room, if you have not sat in the back seats (try it...) I am not sure the HP and Torq report on cnet's video is correct. (134 HP / 105 torq then with electric you said it goes to 214 HP / 258 torq). I might be wrong but I can not find the second set of number... if it really was 214 HP and 258 torq then I most have forgotten what 214HP and 258 torq felt like. Can someone show me where or am I doing something wrong? do I need to set it on Power setting to get that kind of power?
Pros: I've had the v for about 5000 miles. I have averaged in the mid 50MPG over that time. A comfortable small SUV getting that kind of mileage is unheard of. Toyota has reinvented the class with this vehicle.
Cons: Rear view camera could be better implemented.
Pros: The interior and drive were nice. No complaints here. I liked the look of the exterior better than the standard Prius, too.
Cons: No power seats or seat memory even at the highest trim level. My wife and I don't want to have to jack the seats up and down every time we switch drivers. Otherwise, I would have purchased this car at the five trim level.
Summary: Almost perfect, but please, include power seats. See you next year, maybe then we can talk.
