Excellent product, easy to use and great image quality
by JohnmcgFt on January 11, 2009
Pros: It's all about the image. I used this camera on Skype mainly for the image quality for skype video calls. I was impressed by the image on my local screen, and when I made video calls to my contacts the reaction was "wow! the image quality is great"
Cons: The installed disk had problems on my XP laptop, but that was to be expected as I was having problems before getting this unit. I got the drivers installed without a problem, then did windows update and the latest software instaled without incident

Summary: Overall I am very happy with the camera, the only problem I had was the installer for the supporting software, the drivers and the connection with Skype was no issue at all. The connection on Skype as allways, influences the picture quality, but when connecting to a friend with a very poor video quality, that I had previously blamed on the connection, reported that the image from my camera was excellent. They sent me a video snapshot that confirmed it.
The automatic adjustment for low light and the noise reduction built into the camera is very good and made my typically dark office look decent, without the normal exposure lag and motion blur found on other webcams.
The tilt and pan function of the unit is good for getting the subject framed well, as is the auto focus. I don't like the face tracking on most webcams anyway, so I was not impressed with the motorized version on this camera. That said it moved easily and smoothly, and if the background is complex, it can get a little confused.
The software supplied allows the normal picture to be replaced with an avatar that mimics facial expression and movements, a fun gadget, but that's all.
The software allows easy photo snaps and short movie capture from the desktop toolbar, and offers some cool effects in realtime like edge enhancement or pixelation.
Overall a great product, if you don't want the convenience of the motorized pan and tilt, the Logitech 9000 pro is an alternative.

Pros: Facial tracking, excellent quality, easy to set up, shows what is coming to the common consumer, easy to use software included.
Cons: Facial tracking CAN be spotty, especially when trying to make the camera focus on someone specific, has its ADHD moments.

Summary: Even on my old POS desktop with Windows Vista, it has given me less problems than the computer does. Microphone is great, and not supersensitive, feedback is less of an issue since leaving the old laptop camera/mic combo. Video Quality is great, tracking is good with a side of an ADHD gremlin that lives inside and makes the camera go all kooky occasionally, but a simple mouseclick recenters, put the camera back on who you want it to focus on, and your back to business. Overall, I love it, no complaints, and I dunno if a cheaper camera gives you any of the good features you get here. Highly recommended.

Cons: Will NOT TRACK, I have now had them replace this unit 5 times have tried it on 4 different computer with the same results.
Im really suspect about the people who reviewed the product because none of them mentioned the face tracking.
