Summary: Jesus Christ! I have only one complaint. Their software takes too long to install. I think it takes like 30 minutes or more. It seems like that anyways. Maybe I am just impatient? Laughter. Well, I have used VX-5000 for the majority of my Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium (french 32-bit edition) work since I got it. I never could afford the right software and camera so when I got this as a gift from my mother, I was pleasantly surprised how good it turned out to be. Some of the things I received just blows my mind because I take it for granted until I end up seeing other products. I guess I am one of those people who do not realize what they have been given until it is too late in some instances. The good thing is that I am starting to learn to keep the things I have been given and let it grow on me. Anyways, this must be my second or third time restoring the camera software and camera for use because I had a virus of sorts on my MacBook Pro (early 2011). Always keep your original install disc, however, Microsoft made it a little easier on you by keeping the software to operate the camera online at their website. Thank God for Google. Just type in VX-5000 and you should see drivers in one of the listing. I highly recommend this camera for those who are on a budget. Some of the cameras I have seen are like hundred dollar almost. The quality over there might be better, however, 640x480 is good enough.
Cons: The flexible foot is not my favorite feature. When bending it around the top of a laptop for instance the squeeze of the bend is not strong enough to hold it where you placed it- so there is a bit of flopping around and adjusting.

Summary: For around $35 you can't go wrong with this webcam. Picture quality is good. Adjustments for hue, saturation, white balance, etc. actually work. On the downside, backlighting compensation has only one setting and the lightest highlights can blow out. All in all, it performs as good as the best and is a very good choice.
Pros: The install was quick. You can either hang it from the edge of the monitor, or place it on your desktop -- the "tail" on the camera bends to accomodate either. Good picture quality -- Nice product by the Redmond gang -- for once.
Cons: They try to push you into Windows Live Messenger, which sucks.
