The good: Excellent image quality, especially in low light; flexible rubber stand provides a stable and versatile base.
The bad: LifeCam application is lackluster; not compatible with Macs.
The bottom line: Despite its uninspired software, the Microsoft LifeCam VX-5000 proves its worth with outstanding image quality, a funky and useful design, and low price.

Good quality image at an attractive price

Pros: The image quality is excellent and it performs very well in low light. Installation was simple even with the required update for Windows 7. The price at around $40 is hard to beat. I feel the image quality is equivalent to more expensive cams
Cons: The Lifecam saftware is pretty lame and does relatively little. I find most webcam software packages to be relatively useless so this is not a big problem for me.
Summary: My essential requirement was low light performance in a budget cam and this product excels at that.
