Pros: The game certainly captures the imagination with all new monsters to the series. Sound and music score is what you would also expect from a console game. Fluid animations and real life hunting action are top notch.
Cons: Totally linear game. graphics are really not good for a console game. Start up time to really get into the game is LONG! Network lag is attrocious and at time almost unplayable. equipment list is inaccessible and very light weight.

Summary: My disdain for all that transpired in the PS3 saga aside, the developers did no justice to this beautiful game. I am a hunter from the first PSP release. I have many many hours of game play. I believe to start with, the graphics are horribly washed out and bland color wise. The rendering is decent at best. If utilizing a strong graphics engine (which the Wii does not possess) this game could have instantly been far better than the 2 stars I granted it.
Next complaint would be the horrible lag in the network areas. Try fighting a Barroth with your team and you will experience massive frustration. The creature will often disappear and relocate many times after relocating he has targeted you already before you have a chance to respond. This also happened when fighting a Great Jaggi and all the little jaggi were around causing way to much processing and lag resulted.
having played the other versions, I understand that the start time to this game is huge. I understand it takes a while to get the equipment necessary to dispatch these beasts... but with the lack of access to many different types of missions that provide many different types of materials to make many types of armors and weapons, they force you to go through a very limited subset of each. which means if you have trouble fighting one particular monster you wont be able to progress through the game until you get it. this could be hugely frustrating for someone new to the series and frustrating to me because I dont have the 1800 hours I had when playing the others.
Finally, it really feels like CAPCOM is gearing this like they did in the PSP series. start lean, and then release a new version which is really the same game just a few new monsters which means a few new armors and weapons... then they will do it again and expand upon it even more... nothing more than expansion packs really...
I think I might just wait till the 3rd iteration and get it all at once and hopefully they will clean up what will surely kill this series in the US. oh and get rid of the underwater stuff... not so much fun!
