A more serious workout program than Wii Fit.
by KeithA39 on March 19, 2009
Pros: 1. It adapts to your progress.
2. It has variety to the workout programs.
3. Although not necessary, things such as dumbbells and steps can be incorporated.Cons: 1. The graphics don't bowl me over.
2. Neither does the music.Summary: To me, My Fitness Coach is not as much fun as Wii Fit.

The reason, this is a more serious exercise program. Wii Fit is wonderful for getting people active and, depending on the initial fitness of the user, can yield very positive results. After all, any activity is better than none. The yoga, strength, and cardio activities on Wii Fit accomplish what they are meant to do, but...
My Fitness Coach ratchets up the demands quite a bit. My sore quads after the first workout told me that. Minutes and hours pass much more slowly on My Fitness Coach because there is little break in the action as is the case with Wii Fit where you have to navigate from activity to activity.
On My Fitness Coach, you first develop a profile which involves entering vital statistics like your age, height, and gender; then measurements like weight and the circumferences of your upper arm, chest, waist, pelvic area, and thighs. After this, you take your resting pulse and pulse after a jumping jack exercise. Then they test such things as push-ups, crunches, squats, and flexibility, as well as asking how sedentary your life style is and what your fitness goals are.
Based on the above, an exercise program is designed for you. This program is also designed to take into consideration whether you have such additional equipment as hand weights, a step platform, or stability ball. Note: These aren't required. The program will work fine whether or not you have them. It will incorporate the equipment should you have them available, though.
Each session, you can choose whether you want to focus on weight loss, cardio, core work, upper or lower body work, or flexibility. You can also customize how much time you do in each area. I do 30 minutes on cardio, followed by fifteen minutes rotating between the other options.
During each segment, you are asked questions as to how difficult the workout is for you personally. Your answers dictate whether My Fitness Coach will head along the same direction or make the next lesson easier or more difficult.
The pace is continuous, with little interruption save for small occasional rest periods. Unlike Wii Fit, which monitors you constantly, My Fitness Coach doesn't. That means they won't be able to tell if you want to sneak in a little extra rest or march in place a bit should you need to catch your breath.
Again, I don't believe the program is fun. But, it is a much more demanding program than Wii Fit.
By the way, those sore quads I felt after my first My Fitness Coach went away after a couple of days, but I the workouts I do have been very beneficial and I don't just mean in the waistline. I just feel a lot more fit. It has worked for me the eight weeks I've used it.
If I was forced to choose between Wii Fit and My Fitness Coach and fitness was my end goal, the choice would be My Fitness Coach.4 out of 4 users found this user opinion helpful.

Best by far positive enforcement for daily workout.
by blythe75 on February 19, 2009
Pros: I like that you can set your own work out days and times, and what type of workout you want to do for that day. You get to open up different scenes and music, and the person on the game keeps you going! Once I started it now I cant stop!!
Cons: when you have a group work out, no matter what difficulty level each person is at, the work out for a group is the same, it doesnt have a split screen for different intensities.
Summary: The game will set you up by taking your weight, measuring your biceps, thighs, waist, hips and chest. The game keeps track of how many work outs you do, and ...
Summary: The game will set you up by taking your weight, measuring your biceps, thighs, waist, hips and chest. The game keeps track of how many work outs you do, and you can place your own time of days. It does give you a layout of what you should do after the first initial progress test to see what your weakness is, then a star is place at one of the workouts each time you load your profile. It has yoga, cardio, upper body, lower body, core and flexibility. It keeps it different everyday and you learn new excersices, she even asks you questions after certain segments to see how your doing, and rather if it was too easy or too hard for you to keep up, it adjusts the work out for the next time, and it really does work. It is so much fun, I would recommend this to anyone wanting to start a regimen who wants to tone or build muscle as you are able to put in which equipement you may have such as barbells. You have to get it to see.

A good solid workout that plots progress well.
by MomIsNotYourRef on March 4, 2010
Pros: Every workout is different. Different moves are learned daily. You can use your own step, balance ball, free weights and heart monitors to get a better workout - awesome! Motivation is constant. It's tough and makes you really work. Water breaks.
Cons: The environments and music need to be earned. The instructor can be a little stiff and the instructions aren't always perfect. Using a step is awkward. The progress info could be presented better.

Summary: This was the second fitness title I purchased for the Wii. At first it assesses your fitness level. Then, based on what you want to achieve, it will suggest a schedule of workouts for you - your "commitment" - to help you reach your goal. Or you can just do a routine focusing on one of the concentrations: Yoga, Cardio, Upper Body, Lower Body, Core, or Weight Loss. And believe me, these workout are no joke - YOU WILL FEEL IT THE NEXT DAY.
You have the option of deciding the duration of each workout, from 15 min. up to 75 (I think, might be 90). This is my
FAVORITE FEATURE of the whole program. If you only have 15 min. you can still break a sweat. That option alone makes me a fan... anyone can find 15 min. to work out.
Another thing I love is the incorporation of equipment. Over the years I had amassed the usuals: a step, a few hand weights, a balance ball... that sat around most of the time unused and taking up space. With this title, I started using them in every workout - it was like they had been waiting for me to find My Fitness Coach. The only one that is a little weird to use is the step. In the game (I hate to call it a game - it's really not), the step on-screen disappears as you go on to another exercise. Basically, I found myself kicking it away to make space for the next exercise. That tended to break up the rhythm of the workout a little. Eventually, I stopped using it all together. But, if you have enough space, it could be worked into every routine. It would be worth the effort. Unfortunately, I haven't had the pleasure of using a heart monitor with this program so I can't speak about its usefulness.
After several workouts (10 maybe? - I didn't count) you do a fitness challenge - it's the same as the fitness assessment you do when you start the game. You will be pleasantly pleased to find how much stronger you may have become. I was shocked to see my push-up numbers go up, that's for sure.
I have lost just under 50lbs incorporating this title into my plan. Of course, I had to change eating habits and attitudes but that's how it's done, folks. There's no magic pill - it's determined work. I have at least 50 more to go. I will keep using this title to achieve my personal goal.
If you have a 6'x6' space, you have enough room to get a good workout. I highly recommend this title.2 out of 2 users found this user opinion helpful.

Summary: I have used Wii Fit & EA Sports Active as well and find that I prefer My Fitness Coach over them. The variety of workouts is great and I find it good to be able to do some yoga after to cool down and stretch. I have heard some complaints about the graphics, but I don't find them that bad. Absolute value for money at around $30 AUD.

Summary: All in all, this is the game to get things really going in the fitness department. I have also used EA sports Fitness in the past and Fitness Coach leaves that game in the dust. Using it as recommended after the initial killer physical assessment 4 times/week for 4 weeks, of course, coupled with portion control ( not starving on a diet) I lost 20 pounds. Now it has been several months of keeping up that schedule and I lost an additional 10pds., am not overweight anymore and I am in the best physical shape since highschool. Exercise content of each individual session varies a lot. You will not get bored with the same sequence. Fitness Coach adjusts the program to you individually, so no 2 people have the same workout. As you get fitter the exercises get harder. That way you continue to be challenged, which is important to stick to it. If my above mentioned Cons could get fixed this game would absolutely dominate the fitness game industry.

Dominates Wii Fit
by Pacer33 on January 13, 2010
Pros: 1. I loved how you didnt actually need the Wii remote to exersize, where in Wii fit, you stand on a little board
2. Best workout game out their (Opinion)
3. If its to hard or too easy, it will change the workout for you, when it asks.Cons: 1. Music wasnt good
2. Not really for Begginers, aka coach potatoes

Summary: On my bday i recieved this game as a present. I finally Opened it a week later, and endured the body test. It is where you do 2 minutes of jumping jacks, then push ups, ab crunches, ect. Then it ofcourse asks you to put in your weight, height, then something suprised me. It asked me to measure my arms, legs, belly, ect. Then came my workout, imagine my suprise when I boldly chose the 45 min session of cardio, OOPS! I was sweating, pleading to the screen to let me take a break, everything. Then when I was finished, it gave me a summery saying nice first workout. Below it, it said I had burned around 310 calories! Imagine if I did this 2 or 3 times a day with a diet! Bottom line, its the best workout game out there, its more of a workout video, but cool graphics. So go out and buy yourself a Fitness Coach!

The best Wii Fitness that gives the results desired.
by janiscarson on October 16, 2009
Pros: Every day the workout is a little different and can be conformed to the needs of the user. You can change the focus of your workout-upper/lower/core body/flexibility/yoga/cardio workout and use equipment in the home. Well worth the 27 dollars!
Cons: There is no record of the calories I burned that I can go back and look at. I wish it had a better log of the workouts I HAVE done. Other than that. Well work the 27 dollars I paid for it!
Summary: It is easy to be consistent, very motivating. I LOVE THIS PRODUCT!
