EA has finally allowed for some more game modes. In stroke play, for example, players aren't playing for the lowest score in the round. Players are trying to "win" the most holes by scoring the lowest on individual holes. 4 player Forsome and Fourball fun also when you can get four people together online.
- The new swing mechanic TOUR PRO makes the game more like the real thing.
I LOVE LOVE LOVE the new TOUR PRO setting. There's no more flying along with the ball. You have to play from the golfers perspective. I also love the added view from the golfer's perspective looking down at the ball. In addition hardcore players will love the fact that the swing plane is taken into account. In TOUR PRO mode you're going to have to take a real golf swing. There's no more sitting on the sofa flicking your wrist.
- Several new courses add some fun.
The new courses liven up things for us veteran players that have most of the holes for most of the courses offered in TW 10 memorized.
- Ryder Cup is amazing but should have been available for online play.
The addition of the Ryder Cup livens up single player mode. It's really amazing the pressure you feel over a put with the added pressure of playing for a team even if the team is made up of computer controlled golfers. The only problem I have with the Ryder Cup is that it should have been made available for online play. Certainly the format would have had to have been tweaked for online play but it would have been amazing to play against/with real people in the Ryder Cup rather than some computer controlled characters.
- All game modes should be available for online play. Why oh why is EA reluctant to make all game modes available for online play? I just don't understand what the issue is unless it's to leave something for next year.
- Wii Fit Plus has a golf range "game" where you stand on the Wii balance board and swing. The board monitors the person's weight transfer and balance forcing the player to take a proper golf swing. EA really needs to incorporate this in TW 12. The addition of the Wii balance board and TOUR PRO mode would make the Tiger Woods series as close to golf as is possible in a living room and that's really what we're looking for isn't it?
In the end TW 11 is a MUST have even if it's for TOUR PRO mode alone. Everything else is icing on the cake. I was, however, a bit disappointed that EA is so reluctant to add game modes to online play.
