Great Game for the right player.
by sea_glass on January 13, 2011
Pros: Not complex. Lack of complexity is best feature. Can be played with just the controller without nunchuck. Just shoot down planes with the machine gun (rockets after earning spec ops plane) and bomb tanks/subs.
Cons: Not enough different missions. Many missions are minor variants. If you are a heavy duty gamer, you will find the game lame.

Summary: This is a great game if you like a simple interface to fly a plane and shoot a limited types of targets. There is no earning various additional weapons that you would need to keep track of and select from. If you like a nice brain dead fly and shoot game this is a great game. It has taken a year for me to get tired of it. If you are into complex controlling and multiple weapons, forget it. I would recommend this to any post 40 yr old duffer who just wants to get off the couch and interact with a game for a time. More aggressive than a Mario game, less bloody than most shooting games, and WAY less complex than similar games like "Blazing Angels".

A Nazi campaign, really?
by zfrg on April 12, 2010
Pros: The game is fun and controls are easy to understand.
Cons: Too few plane choices, impossibly hard missions, and role-playing as Nazis.

Summary: The game has no American or Japanese planes, which seems like a big oversight to me. More disturbing, however, is that it gives me the option to take Nazi planes on campaign to take over Poland. What were the designers thinking?? What sane person wants to role play as a Nazi pilot? I don't mind being the monster sometimes, but this concept is a little to close to reality. It's so tasteless I wish I could get my money back.

Fun for me and my 6yr old!
by tibbst on February 24, 2009
Pros: Dogfight mode lets you fight head-to-head or against computer in any of the supported planes.
Cons: Difficult to get the hang of, at first.

Summary: This game is certainly difficult to get the hang of, initially. I only fly, now, in Control Layout 2 (not the default), which uses the knunchuk as a yoke. It's more fun to fly the campaigns when you have help. My 6yr old makes a great wingman, and my 4yr old isn't too bad (note: none of us are big-time gamers). Together, we've completed at least 8(?) missions for each of the factions (British, German, and Russians). I haven't owned a flight simulator game for years, so I can't compare to other modern flight simulators, but this one is pretty fun. I do find myself going back to dogfight mode, when I get stuck on a campaign, so I can feel the thrill of success, again. :)
Don't be turned off by other reviews of the controls. They can be learned, but don't try to use the default control layout. -
Are you kidding me? Too hard to be any fun.
by Mercenary151 on February 14, 2009
Pros: Fun to fly and shoot at other planes. Decent game control.
Cons: Absolutely frustrating! Every time I see the horizon 4 more planes come out of nowhere and start shooting at me. 10 against one. Ridiculous lack of playability. Every time I get shot down its by 7 or 8 plans all shooting at me at once.
Summary: Lame, frustrating, and not thought out.

Impossible from the second round once in mission
by rcandrews on December 4, 2008

Summary: The first mission of the campaign could be performed with ease. After that, I spent 3 days to get through the next 3 missions at the EASY setting. It is way too tough; it's as if you have to fight off the entire German Luftwaffe with a balsa wood glider!
Playability should have been checked with focus groups before launch of this game, otherwise it might have been fun.
