a lot of active fun!
by cptcrk on November 12, 2010
Pros: It's an amazing experience just being able to use your movements to control the games. Moreover, the sports and adventure games are suitable for all ages. Can recommend it!
Cons: I enjoy Kinect a lot: more games would be welcome

Completely changes gaming for everyone...
by DanKasun on November 6, 2010
Pros: Works very well... I expected it not really live up to expectations. I was wrong. It just works.
Really requires you to move - lots of exercise... gets kids off couch
Reaches non-gamer audiences
Cons: You'll want a good amount of space...
Need more game titles...

Different but real slow.
by Azelis on November 10, 2010
Pros: It is certainly different and is by far the most physical of the 3 motion control schemes currently in play.
Cons: The delay between moving and a game realizing you've moved is by far the worst and makes some games nearly unplayable (such as a hurdle course or a long jump when your character doesn't start the jump until long after you've landed).
Summary: If you want a product that's going to give you a workout, the Kinect doesn't give you a choice. Movements have to be fairly large and exaggerated to ...

Summary: If you want a product that's going to give you a workout, the Kinect doesn't give you a choice. Movements have to be fairly large and exaggerated to be correctly read and in some games you're rewarded for the larger movements. There isn't a lot of instruction for some games and you simply have to play them over and over to figure out what you're supposed to be doing though.
Latency is the biggest issue facing this device. Your instinct when, say, doing a long jump is to jump at the end of the running track. However the latency is so bad while the game is processing that your on-screen character doesn't actually start the jump until you land, and believe me I was going for as much air as I could. If the latency were consistent it might not be so bad but it changes based on just how much processing the X-Box is doing. In another minigame it flat out refused to register any movements as it was pelting me with ping pong balls, even though in the pre-game the movement and delay was akin to Wii levels.
The menu navigation is quickly going to get old as you have no point-of-reference in directing the on-screen pointer and holding your hand up in the air perfectly still for a fair amount of time (not unlike right-click by doing a long hold on a touchscreen) adds frustration.
Finally, remember that most games constantly take pictures and video of you as you play. I'm glad I didn't discover this in private because I got sweaty pretty quickly trying to get my carrot mascot to jump and would have likely shed a layer or two. Others, I've read, were not so lucky.

Yes you need room but i dont see how that is any different than PS3 Move .. you need the SAME amount of room for the Move games with the camera .. I don't see how that is a negative ... Just realize you need space t play and that's that .. no need to criticize every game for that fact

Its a piece of ****.
by 98748547gf8g8h on July 23, 2012
Pros: Ruins anger control and creates a reason for drinking.
Cons: It interfers will everrything that is not a kinect game or app. You can try turning it off, but it doesn't help. the only solution is to unplug it and throw it through your closed window, thats the only enjoyment you get out of it.

Summary: basically what I did with mine was I grabbed it by the cord, gerked it out of my xbox. Don't get excited, yet. I went outside opened my grill shoved it in closed the lid, then went and grabbed my leftover fireworks and shoved them in there to. I poured a full bottle of lighted fluid on them and put the lid back on. I opened the vent and procided to shoot a roman candle at it. I missed a couple of times of cousre. I wasn't close enough. But once I hit it not only ruined my nice grill and stained my garage, but it tore the ******* sensor all to ****.

Truly Revolutionary!
by TheRekcah on March 10, 2011
Pros: Works much better then expected! A new way to play games, wow!
Cons: As to be expected, there are small flaws. You can't turn around, and you have to exaggerate your moves sometimes, but that can make it more fun!
Games aren't all that great, but that is because it's still quite new.

Still unsure about the Kinect. Delayed or no reaction.
by txnana4 on January 24, 2011
Pros: Not having to keep up with controllers.
Cons: The movements seem delayed & on some of the games, no matter what you do it does not follow your movements. Maybe there is a glitch in some of the games.
Summary: Still unsure. I've not used the Wii or Sony Move enough to compare. Hopefully the issues with the couple of games we have (especially the Motion Sports) will be ...

Summary: too bad if you stuck with a bunch of old hardware from other game genres. its old news. I am 67 and this is my first game. As an old dancer I wanted to get back into shape, Xbox delivers and more. cant wait for more games to come on line. and technology is only going to get better. consumers reports gives thumbs up and I have to agree. definitely not for hardcore gamers that want to sit around and do nothing.
Updated on Jan 23, 2011
cons: it would have been nice if Microsoft had included the correct game cord , who is going to buy this game and connect to not a HD TV. its not the 20 bucks at radio shack its the aggravation factor.
