I feel robbed, use to look at EA as the best.....

Pros: New NFL football game.
Cons: Only NFL game offered, extra $$$ FOR NOTHING!!!

Summary: I agree with 'COLMABOY' 100%, I wasted my money on two Madden 08 games, one for Xbox 360 & my PC. I find Madden 08 for the Xbox 360 to be harder to play than 07 with no true improvements. And the pc Madden 08 version is just a $40 roster upgrade, the graphics and the play are the same! What EA should have done was spend the money on improving the play, features, & graphics of the game instead of giving it to the NFL. 08's halftime highlights is a joke when compared to NFL 2K5's Chris Berman highlights. I mean if you can't get Chris, how about Terry, Howie, Jimmie, Troy, Deion, Greg, need I say more! I only bought the pc version of Madden 08 because it is compatible w/ Vista. What a waste of $$$. Can't wait until the contract is up so Visual Concepts can develop a real NFL Football game (NFL 2K9 possible?).

They should have named this Madden Arcade
by stefonte on August 16, 2007
Pros: It's a football game
Cons: No camera adjustment. Cant tell the O line how to block. "Weapons" system to ARCADE-ISH. What happened to hardnose football.
Summary: I have been playing madden for 15 years (yes I am that old) and I consider myself a great player!
I played Madden yesterday on both systems (rented them):

I played Madden yesterday on both systems (rented them):
1. Not impressed
2. NO noticable difference in the fps (slight freezes when you play online for PS3, but not enough to fustrate anyone)
3. The game still sucks and this is why:
they put so much ARCADE type stuff n the game you really have to study to win and if you don’t you will be destroyed. For instance, the new weapon system. If you are lined up against two shut down corners (greenbay) and I was the bears I could only pass to my TE or a 3rd slot reciever. Then there are so many option that you don’t have time to explore them before your play clock runs out. Then hike the ball. If you are a football fan, YOU DONT NEED A WEAPONS SYSTEM TO TELL YOU WHO IS GOOD AT WHAT!
You still cant change the camera view and you cant tell your o-line which way to block or how to block. If you are lined up against a great reciever and you are not a great corner you are burned automatically (unless you press L2 see a mismatch icon, all before they hike the ball). They play calling is simplified which is a plus, but the game doesn’t have that madden feel anymore. It feels like gameday mixed with some 2k5. I don't plan on buying it. What happened to good ol grind it out hardnose, playaction pass football?1 out of 1 users found this user opinion helpful.

Franchise Mode Glitches and Bugs

Summary: No more buying Madden when it comes out for me. I will wait on monitor boards for a few months until I find out if the franchise bugs were fixed. The franchise mode locks up sometime after the first season every time.
The player vs. player is fun as always. If this is the main draw for you then this game is great. If the franchise mode and the simulating team management is your thing then don't buy it.
EA has a NFL monopoly and has no reason to put out a truly quality product until sales decrease. Spend your $60 on something else. -
decently amusing
by MixMasterBean on January 2, 2008
Pros: good graphics, okay soundtrack
Cons: will make you want to break your controller.
Summary: Even though I get my ass handed to me in this game, as well, I find that it's still pretty accurate and entertaining.

An excellent game and a real step up in the Madden Series
by crazytech_guy on September 1, 2007
Pros: Great graphics, new play designs are great

Summary: If you still don't a football game for the 360 then there is no reason to wait because this is by far one of the best madden games that has rolled out of EA sports in a while. The graphics are stunning, the audio is amazing and you feel like your in the line of scrimmage when the ball is hiked. I just got my Xbox 360 elite and it plays fantastically over the HDMI cable provided. And if you don't have an xbox 360 elite yet here is a great hassle free link to get one for FREE!
http://www.360Elite4free.com/index.php?ref=4051260
Just sign up for a free service get a few referrals and your set. Sorry for making this seem like an advertisement but I'm just trying to help those who can't afford a 360 to get in on the action. If you want more info just drop me a thread.
Anyways this is a fantastic sports game that is a must have. -
Not as good as expected!
by spartan607 on August 23, 2007
Pros: Detailed stadiums, design your own ring, franchise mode, edit roster, better running back "highlight" controls
Cons: Not "madden like", arcade style, tackles not realistic, graphics worse than 07, gameplay not as "fun"

Summary: I was extremelly surprised when I sat down to play this for the first time. I got it at midnight the day it came out and was actually dissapointed. I figured it would be at least like madden 07 with better gameplay and controls, but its not even close. I myself like on 07 when you were approaching the line of scrimmage the camera would show your players walking up and getting ready for the set themselves. It makes it a better in game experience and feels like you're actually in the game. 08 does not have this and at the end of the play it is like espn 2k5 where it shows the players doing something rediculous and unrealistic. I just graduated and played football in high school so when I go to play a football game, I want it as real as possible. This madden 08 does not fulfill that want. The tackling to me is mostly unrealistic. You rarely see running backs doing a full flip when they are tackled. The graphics to me are worse than 06 and 07 except the players body structure is more realistic in this game, since in 07 it seemed like every player (even Marc Bulger and the punter) were on steroids. I have to say this game is way better if you are playing it on a large HDTV and that seems like the only way to get your full enjoyment out of it. The players are greatly detailed but their actions are just unrealistic, not "madden like". I think it is also time that John Madden and Al Michaels start announcing instead of the ridicualous EA radio guy who never even actually knows how many yards you actually gained. In conclusion this game is alright, the stadiums are alot better in detail which is what I look for because I have been watching football my whole life, and played, and I want it as real as possible, but this edition of Madden was just not it. Hopefully EA realizes and decides to come out with a totally different gameplan with Madden 09. Either that our let another franchise compete with them to make a possibly better game.

EA made unnecessary changes just to sell more games!

Summary: I have been playing Madden since 1995. I find it very frustrating that year after year I have to relearn how to play Madden. I should have the choice to keep the same control configuration from one year to the next, and turn all the new crap off. The 360 is supposedly a next generation console, so why are there less features instead of more. I want to be able to save a game at any point, like in the Maddens before the 360. I want Football 101 back, just because it was fun. I don’t want silly passing cones or Icons under my players. I believe that if it aint broke; please don’t fix it for the sake of change. EA should make the graphics better, fix the glitches and keep the AI from cheating when you are ahead (the AI starts to make unreal plays and makes you fumble even when you are protecting the ball). That’s my opinion.

Not impressed

Summary: This is my first experience of Madden on Next Gen and I am disappointed. The weapons system makes the game look completely fake and cartoonish. Isn't the point of any sports game to pretend like you are controlling your favorite team in a real game? The icons under the players look ridiculous. Plus the gameplay has become so convuluted it is almost unplayable. Keep in mind I have played every iteration of Madden since 1995 and consider myself a pretty savy gamer. Not to mention every game I've played against the CPU has resulted in at least 8 fumbles combined by both teams and the DB's all have a 56" vertical leap.
