  Summary: I am not your typical "gamer" but I have played my share of video games in my day. I just got NBA Live 08 for Xbox 360 and it is sick! I had 2K7 for PS3 so that was the last basketball game I can compare it to...This is hands down better...the player movements are awesome and the players faces are finally starting to look realistic, though they are still far from what I figured "next gen HD" would look like. I have a few issues with the game, some were mentioned in the CNET review, others not. First, I agree that it slows down the game when you are on a fast break and the player you pass to stops dead in his tracks to catch the ball....whats up with that?! The opponent usually manages to get back in time to stop you. I also feel that there may be something fixed within the game to keep it closer...I find it strange that after say a 10-0 run that Steve Nash would miss 3 in lay-ups in a row, or Shawn Marion would start missing dunks. My biggest concerns with the game so far (after playing for about 3 weeks) I don't know if my game is defective, but recently it has developed some bugs. I purchased my 360 new and bought the game new at the same time. Everything was fine for the 1st week, then one day I fired it up and the game started taking FOREVER to load! The game it self loaded fine when inserted, it was only after I selected all options when I was waiting for the actual "game" to start that it got screwy... The first week the game loaded in under a minute...(the part where it is loading and has the trivia questions) then it started taking anywhere from 5-10 minutes to load...and I am NOT guessing...I seriously watched the clock. I then noticed that if I made a substitution during game play, once the sub took place, the player indicators would disappear from under the player making it next to impossible to know which player was selected without hitting the button until the right player moves, and more times than not, the other team has already dunked in your face by then! I really think these glitches are game related and not 360 related...all other games are fine...its just NBA (NHL 07 loads in about 20 seconds once you select teams). Overall, it is a REALLY fun game and I still consider it worth the wait mine takes to load.

  OK, I couldn't figure out how to add an update to my review so here goes...This game is still awesome...my biggest gripe w/ the game (the ridiculous load time) seems to have been fixed by and xbox update. Once I connected the console to the internet the game is loading fine again...I used to have to wait for 20 trivia questions to pass (sometimes repeats) before the game would load...now 3-4 and its ready...This is great because I love this game but I hated playing it because of the wait times! Oh and by the way, I had compared the gameplay to NBA 2K7...I just played that again after a few months and I gotta say that game is a JOKE compared to NBA LIVE 08! I even played the demo for 2K8 and though its better than the last, there is NO comparison!
