Pros: Fans of the original will enjoy this game; especially the new MOUNTS and familiar nods to the first game. Graphics have only taken a modest leap forwards but the environments feel much larger and impressive. GOOD REPLAY (especially for achievements).
Cons: XBOX LIVE EXPERIENCE is not very good on this game at all. Casting spells has been alterered to a ONE button + 2nd button / timing combination that doesn't work and there's still issues with sweeping minions from time to time. It's worth the effort.

Summary: My biggest disappointment with this game is that it didn't do enough to impress me and advise friends to purchase it - that is to say - friends who did NOT play the first games. Fans of the first will love this game and at worst, become a little frustrating with the fact the puzzles vary from simplistic to genius within the same mission. As always, if you look around and listen to Gnarl you will eventually have that 'ah ha' moment and quickly solve the puzzle.
Game length was nice, I've only played it once and spent around 28 to 30 hours in campaign mode. Plus another 4 or 5 hours simply gathering gold, completing side quests (killing 1,000 gnomes, hahaha) etc. I will play again to make alternate choices and unlock those achievements too.
Multiplayer sessions are way too long and not that fun. From an achievement standpoint, you would need to invest 3 1/2 hours - straight - and win EACH game in order to unlock most of the ranked MP points. Worse, one of the achievements (kill oppossing Overlord 20x in ONE match) can't be completed in 10 minutes without collusion with your opponent. Worse yet, the game offers ZERO achievement reward for co-op play.
In Overlord 3, I would like to see the minions problem solve a little better and auto-engage the likeliest enemy, either the greatest threat and/or closest to the overlord (in free for all mode) because in combat you'll often forget to plant the flag.
Also, like the LEGO games I would like to have some additional options for upgrages; including an ITEM DETECTOR, I'm still missing a few dark crystals and a totem for heaven's sake. Still, I will be purchasing the third game when it comes out; plus, it's fun to bring back some of your top troops with the best weapons and funniest outfits.
The Overlord series has a quirky sense of humor that defies logic and reason, but it's a whole lot of fun. If you like one, add two to your collection - else, rent it.
